Definitely read this!
The switch was easy to install and saved me the cost of a new pump. Important note: The switch is designed to activate when submerged in more than 7 to 10 inches of water, which is well above the height of the pump. When I replaced the switch, I tested it in a bucket of water that just covered the top of the pump (about 6 inches). The pump did not activate, so I bought a new pump thinking the switch was not the problem. Nowhere in the pump literature does it say that the pump kicks on at 7 to 10 inches of water except on the outside of the box of the new pump. When I tested the new switch in a deeper bucket of water, it worked fine. Fortunately, the plumbing supply house refunded my money for the new pump.

Brand name kit!
It fixed the problem of my pump kicking off and on continually with water in the sump. The pump is 24 years old and still going strong! The diaphragm got weak. The kit fixed the problem and the pump is running as good as always. Buy this kit, even if you don't use the housing!

If you have one of these pumps, get this kit as well as a switch housing cover as well.
Summary:A good quality and reasonably priced replacement parts kit for Little Giant 6 and 8 series automatic switch pumps. Don't wait until you need one to buy a spare, but get the cover (sold severalty, details below) as well since this part is likely to need replacmeent at some time in the future.Details:If you have a series 6 or 8 Little Giant pump, I would recommend getting this kit before it is needed. The Little Giant pumps have a long service life, and it is very likely you will need one of these before the pump burns out or some other problem (impeller death) occurs. In my experience the switch or the front-plate (cover) will probably fail first; I have had two covers develop cracks allowing water in, causing the switch to stop functioning and which may electrify the water where the pump is sitting. With this kit you can replace all of the components of switch except for the power cord, a small wire which goes between the motor and the switch (about 1" long), and the cover. Since the kit does not include the cover, and since this part is a likely-to-fail part, I would suggest also ordering a couple of these have on-hand along with this kit. The Little Giant part number for the cover is 108455 and on-line plumbing supply or plumbing surplus stores sell this covers for a few dollars each.Another reviewer mentioned that removing the power cord can be somewhat difficult. This is true, if and you either need a pin spanner wrench to remove it, or a flat-tip screwdriver which can be inserted into the slots in the top and then pushed around to spin the top off. If you remove the cord this way, it is obviously very important to spin it back on tightly since that is critical to maintaining a watertight compression seal.

My Little Giant pump is good to go for another 10 years!
Update 5/17/18 - Well I still love my Little Giant pump BUT the switch in the repair kit failed. I noticed the pump was not running and took it apart to investigate. The plastic pin in the switch that holds up the lead would no longer stay up. Not sure why but it failed. I am ordering two new repair kit this time so that I have a spare in case it happens again.################################################First, Little Giant pumps are the BEST on the market! Yes, they are a little more expensive but well worth the $$$.I had my pump installed for almost 10 year before it stopped running and would not kick on. I only had to clean (clear the vacuum pinhole with a paperclip) once in that time, other than that it ran like a Swiss watch. I called the tech support line for Little Giant and they were super helpful and based on my symptoms, recommended the repair kit to replace the failed diaphragm. Within 15 - 20 mins, I had the repair kit installed and the pump back in working order.

Frustrating
These Little Giant pumps are great. When I had my french drain system installed, they installed these pumps and if it's good enough for the pros it's good enough for me.All you really need it the switch. It's the part that has failed on all my Little Giant pumps. Unfortunately you can't just buy the $4 switch, you need to buy this stupid kit. For the price you pay for these "professional quality" pumps you'd think they'd use a decent switch and not allow their reputation to fall on a cheap Chinese micro switch. But no. Chinese garbage. I'm sick of being ripped off.The upside is that this is a simple repair. All you need is a Phillips screwdriver, a towel, and about 15 minutes. Swap out the parts, reinstall the pump, and dry off while you contemplate how much more it would have cost them to use quality electronics on their pumps, which are awesome.Buy this kit before you need it and have it on hand for when the switch fails. Because it will.
