Light, comfortable, effective
I love these things. They are not clunky or uncomfortable. I usually forget I have them on until I need them - like today when a slipper tree root took out my front tire and dumped me on the ground - with no scratches or injuries on my arm. Or the other day when I was riding wide to make room for another bike coming the other way and clipped an "area closed" sign. It was mounted to rebar. Turns out you can't just "blow through" those things. When I hit the ground in the rocky Arizona desert, the rocks tore my Osprey backpack. My elbows? Unscathed. Highly recommended.

Upgrades elbow protection
I have 7iDP's 'transition' elbow pads and wore them just about every ride. These are even lighter and more flexible. Definitely an improvement from the Transition for basic trail riding. I feel the transition probably gives a little more protection but if you're interested in these, you're probably just looking for something to protect your skin from those annoying elbow cuts when you fall... and I think this will do the trick. *Here's a tip, flip the 'silicon' strips upside down to put them on. If you pull and tug them on I think they'll fall apart faster.

not worth the price.
For the price these are worthless. No protection, maybe from sand or stones. But you hit any features, rocks, trees...you're going to be hurting.
