The Hummers Love It
We bought 2 feeders, one for each side of the house. We hung them from a chain so they are 5' above the ground. The birds swarm to them 3 or 4 at at time at different times of the day. We have tried other feeders and the H828 and prefer this model because it is easy to assemble and reload with nectar and,of course, the birds seem to like them too. They will tilt slightly to one side if the nectar level gets low but this is a good indicator that it is time to refill. This feeder is worth the few extra dollars it might cost over cheaper models.

Easiest to refill and clean hummingbird feeder
Best hummingbird feeder I've ever used. First one got destroyed by a bear last fall. I tried Maggift feeder but it totally frustrated me. It was too small, leaked and was a pain to refill. The Droll Yankees is easy to clean, easy to refill with the center section that lifts up, and the birds love it. It is supposed to come with a feeder port brush but this last one did not. I still have the brush from the one I bought before, so it's not a big deal. Highly recommend over the Maggift and glass models that can be hard to fill.

Best Design of Any Hummingbird Feeder - All Brands!
First of all, I bought this without any compensation. I'm a hummingbird fanatic. I live in an apartment complex, but I still get droves of hummingbirds - presumably because of the nectar-rich flowers I grow. The design of this hummingbird feeder is slightly different than the other dish feeders. Most dish feeders (Aspects and Perky Pet) have an area in the center that the manufacturers call an ant moat. This feeder has a huge capacity -- more than any other dish feeder I've seen. The top of the feeder is dome-shaped. That allows water to slide off when it rains. The perch that surrounds the dish is slightly higher than it in on other feeders. The sides aren't curved, so that helps to prevent spillage. The feeder comes with nectar guards, which is tremendously helpful if bees or wasps are a problem. A protective barrier lies on top of the dome, providing total protection against flying insects, ants, or other nectar loving menaces. This design addresses every issue that hummingbird watchers face with other feeder designs. My only wish is that Droll Yankees would use this design to create models that hold 8, 12, or 16 ounces of nectar - in addition to this 32-ounce model.

Awkward design
The design is awkward. It does not hang level which makes it unsuitable as a hanging feeder. It would likely work fine if pole-mounted but would then need to be unscrewed from pole each time to clean and refill. Messy and awkward. I want to like it but just don't. Might find a pedestal to set it on rather than pole mount.

It looks like it will be very easy to clean and I ...
First impressions noted only as I have just filled the feeder and put it out yesterday. It looks like it will be very easy to clean and I like the idea of the easy to install nectar guards. I wish I bought a smaller one (smaller nectar storage) as the heat in our area causes me to have to replenish nectar in the feeders very often for freshness and having to put so much nectar in this feeder I foresee a lot of waste this summer. If I had more visitors, this would be a benefit, not a concern! This hook did not fit on any of my crooks so I had to add an "S" hanger to it. With no incorporated ant moat, I will add another 2-3" for one of those. That is not bad but it makes the feeder hang too low on my shorter crooks. I will post again once the season is in full swing!

Hummers love the happy 8
The center part has improved over the years so less likely to crack. The neighborhood hummers have spread the word and I’ve had to hang at least 2, usually 3 in the back and 1 or 2 in front. I use 4 to 1 mix vs Drolls 5 to 1. I have had to buy a larger measuring cup (8 cups) and summer I have to fill daily…. I’ve had smaller feeders in past but to much trouble to keep full plus hummers are territorial so will just scare each other away on smaller feeders.

Not Droll Yankees best design.
I've owned 3 other smaller Droll Yankee Hummer feeders over the past 20 years which have been excellent feeders and very well designed. However, I feel this 8 place feeder was not well engineered. Unless it's 3/4 to completely full it won't hang straight. The geometry of the width to height when not full does not provide enough balast so the nectar pools to any one side and the feeder hangs crooked. I purchased two, and both do the same. I've considered lengthening the hanging rod to change the geometry but for now I've hung a balast weight from the threaded bottom pole receiver to keep it straight so the hammers get nectar in 8 ports. I'd love to try a brass rod twice the length

I found this brand years ago and loved their product
I found this brand years ago and loved their product. My old feeder cracked and this is a replacement. It works fine - seems a little smaller than the old feeder but has more red on the top so I think that would attract the birds better. The red lid also pops off whereas the old one didn't, so this version is easier to clean.

DINNER IN LYTTON BC
Love this feeder but my hummers love it more! Highly recommended and worth every penny. Easy to clean and plenty big so that most often you only have to fill it once per day.

the hummers are happy with it
No drips and after a day of getting used to it, the hummers are happy with it. Much easier to fill as well.

Threads on base are crooked. Never hangs level.
It doesn’t hang level even when full because the brass hook is crooked, or rather I should say the threads it screws into in the feeder are crooked. So no matter what you do the feeder hangs lop sided when full with some ports in the nectar and some out. I have put the silicone nectar guards onto the underside of the ports so at least they don’t leak otherwise I’d have nectar all over my deck.
