It is not common and may be a defect. All our parts are guaranteed and have a 1 year warranty.

Q: Does this fit a regular 2009 mustang or does it have to be a GT?

It may fit but the bolt pattern might be a little different. But for me I like to stay true to any mustang GT, 5.0, Shelby etc etc. u stay with the look of the model, if u out 2015 GT body parts only on certain parts u will see the difference is y I always stay true to to the model of the make.
