I have never been so moved by the life and death of one man, save one, Our Lord Jesus. Father Kolbe was a remarkable man who loved the Blessed Mother and did amazing things in Her name. A modern day Saint who's love for others is an example for all of. Wonderfully written. A book that will end sooner than you would like

Very readable, and comprehensive biography of this amazing servant of God. I highly recommend it to those wanting to understand Kolbe and his Immaculata.

Difficult to imagine that a man endured so much suffering and misery and could maintain his beautiful loving outlook to his persecutors. I would definitely recommend it to all of my friends.

Well This is the saint that I had for my catechism class.The saint suffered many times just for his faith.Very interesting what he has done.I respect maximilian for his faith and works.Need Too Read This Onr

Saint Kolbe wow! Who could help us know more about what it means to be like Jesus than the mother of God, Mary?! His consecration and devotion to her brought him closer to Christ just like many other Christian saints before and after him. This book is well written and inspiring to those who want to learn more about the love of Christ through his mother. Great Saint, great book and thanks be to God for Mary, the mother of God!

I had read about St Maximillian Kolbe's martyrdom in another book, so I was eager to learn his complete story. However, I was disappointed to learn that his devotion to Mary was the driving force behind his actions, rather than his devotion to The Lord. He had a vision of Mary as a young boy, offering him the crown of martyrdom, and he accepted it, knowing that he would someday die for his faith. But, as the book contends, his life and death were inspired by his love of Mary (Christ is rarely mentioned), and even his evangelistic efforts were focused on leading the lost to Mary, rather than Jesus Himself! His love for others and willingness to sacrifice himself are certainly evident in this biography, and I can see why Catholics consider him to be a saint. However, Protestant readers would probably bristle at all the Mary-directed worship/devotion described in the book. I had planned to have my kids read this book for school, but as a non-Catholic, I will probably choose another saint/martyr biography, rather than try to explain all the differences. The story itself is well-written, and covers his childhood through his death. No complaints there...and the story seems to be an accurate account of Kolbe's life and beliefs, but I just wanted to clarify for those who may be expecting a more Christ-centered story of a Christian martyr.
