Interesting in retrospect
Reading this in retrospect of 100 years plus 5 additional major conflicts, show that the insights of the importance of air power was not missed then. It's true import was only imagined, but the author fully saw that commercial (mercantile) uses would pave the way to full use of the air and that war applications would be a niche but important player with its own needs.

this person hit the nail on the head with hist analysis of early aviation.
It seems to be an obvious conclusion that aviation would take hold of a firm place in history at the time the book was written. But it was not that easy as we have seen over the history. This is an interesting read, I recommend it for any aviation history buff.If it tickles your fancy, read the bio of Allan F. Bonnalie "A Lifetime in Aviation" to see how some of Sir Frederick's ideas came true.

Something old, new
This was a great find. A look back at a moment calling the future of the aviation world in the future (our present). For a student of military or civil aviation this is a worth while read. It traces the routes of our modern aviation expansion, World War 1. Highly enjoyable and thoughtful work.

mostly boring
Terrible stilted writing. Much too detailed and unnecessary.

Probably good in its day....
A good account of early aviation up to and including WW1, but lacks dynamics and pace- in my opinion. But for free..? It's worth a read

Interesting Book
An interesting review of aviation through the years. Easy to read and understand and would be a good introduction to aviation history although a little basic.

A book of its time
For the standpoint of the I'd 1929s this book reviews the history of aviation, it's development during the first world war, and takes a look at a possible cultures .Written by the Chief of Air Staff in post at the end of the war, it offers an informed and insightful view. The author's thoughts on the future of Air warfare are weirdly prescient.

An aviation history.
Regrettingly boring, as might have been expected by the long gone era described. Of inteest only to historians of the period.
