Worth the money
Nice nautical patterns, some more artistic then others.

A very useful book
The patterns in this book are all fairly easy to execute. But what I appreciated most is that they can easily be adapted to different styles of projects: e.g. stand alones or attached to a background and maybe even framed. I only wish the book had included more.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED BOOK
This is a lovely book with a GOOD few patterns in it for the scroll saw, initially. As the present is for my husband's birthday, he won't be seeing it until November, so you'll have to make do with me....The patterns on the page are drawn rather faintly, I think, not in strong black lines - why, I have no idea. This is going to make it a bit harder for me to trace them for my cardmaking, too. I was hoping to use the hoping to use the book when my hubby wasn't looking as I think the patterns would make good 'silhouette' pictures on cards. There is an Introduction and an Helpful Hints sections at the beginning of the book followed by a chapter of Patterns:Castles in the Sand, Bayside Architect, Reading on the Beach, Summer Love, Seaside Stroll, Fishing Lesson, Widow's Walk, Shore Bird, Sea Gull Look-Out, Sea Gull Signpost, Pelican, Piper Row, Flock of Gulls, Classic Lighthouse, Sailor Beware....Lighthouse! Rocky Point - Lighthouse, Keeper of the Light, Lighthouse Ornament, Lighthouse Mural, Seahorse, Seahorse II, Lobster, Crab, Sail Fish, Sail Fish II, Fish, Dolphins, Whale Tail, Jaws. Then you have the Gallery. Then you have more Patterns:Sand Dollar and Sea Shell, Sea Shells II, Nautilus, Starfish, Starfish II, Portrait of a Sea Captain, Mermaid Magic, Mermaid Ornament, Ocean Sailor, Sailor Clock, Tug Boat, Ship in a Bottle, Ship's Wheel Trivet, Oars and Preserver, Anchors Away, Monster of the Deep, Pirate's Anchor, Ship Wreck, Deep Sea Diver, Wind Surfer, Wind Surfer II, Beach Patrol, Lobster Shack, Lighthouse Weather Vane, Whale Weather Vane, Shovel and Pail. The patterns can be used at any size - reduce or enlarge at will by permission of the author. That's it! In my opinion, my husband will love this book. I'm going to have a whale of a time, copying, if not tracing, some of the designs and changing them around for my cards. They're great. As for the Scroll Saw: Two blades are mentioned - a #2 for paper and a #5 for cutting wood. If wood is too thick, too many blades will break, material will burn and you won't get through your projects. If the wood is too thin, it won't resist the blade and you won't be able to keep in a straight line etc. Always keep plenty of paste wax on the table as this reduces the drag on your workpiece. Many other such helpful hints are mentioned, along with the reasoning behind them. I haven't the foggiest as to whether they are helpful or not, because I don't have a scroll saw. However, I always go with my gut, and this book is a must-have for all hobbyists.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Sea life, the beach
It’s a great book, and has wonderful patterns. There’s just one thing that disappointed me a little bit, I discovered the owner doesn’t want people to sell what they make from the book, so what’s the point on buying his book if you can’t use he’s ideas to earn a living.
