Sushi Chef in no time...
Pros: Made out of sturdy material, very easy to use and clean, clear instructions, funCons: Hard to grasp sushi to cut if sushi is thickerI love sushi, but I was sick and tired of paying $11-$13 per special roll at restaurants. I love to cook and prepare meals, so I thought purchasing a sushi making kit would be right up my alley. This kit is so easy to use, and it comes with very straight forward, step-by-step instructions. I'm not a fan of the seaweed wrapper, so I purchased the soy wrapper instead, and it works well with this sushi kit.The instructions included within this product tells you exactly how to make "sushi" rice, and it also gives you suggestions and the ingredients to put within your sushi roll. My first two rolls included cucumber, avocado, and sushi grade raw tuna. I thought it was quite fun making the sushi by myself, so I'm sure if you make it a family affair with your kids, it'll be a great time!I was a little confused with how to use the plastic sushi mat to roll the sushi. I'm not sure if I was reading the instructions incorrectly, but it didn't make sense to me in regards to rolling up the sushi. I just decided to get my hands dirty, and use my hands to roll it in combination with the mat. Some of my rolls were a tad bit bigger than I expected (probably because I didn't roll is tight), but this caused the green sushi cutter to not fit over the sushi. I had to open it out a little more, and then cut the sushi. Other than these two minor things, the sushi turned out well. This product is very easy to clean, as well, which was a major plus for me.All in all, I'd say this was an excellent buy. I love sushi, and I now enjoy making sushi for myself and others. With the step-by-step instructions, and the ease of using the product, I thoroughly recommend it. If you're anything like me in regards to your love of sushi and preparing food, then this product is for you. I'm personally elated with my purchase. This is an honest review. I purchased this item with my own money at full price, and wanted to give honest feedback. I hope this helps!

Really easy!
I got my Sushiquik the day before yesterday and made my first rolls last night. I have to say, it was easier than I thought it would be and the rolls came out looking great! The Sushiquik worked as advertised, I loved that it went right in the dishwasher when I was done, and the construction is thoughtful and clever. Due to the large amount of prep work to make various kinds of rolls, if your planning on doing just one kind, I could see making this more often, but as it is, I think it would be a lot of fun for a make-your-own-roll party or as an ocassional treat with kids.A few thoughts on sushi making in general: 1) You need more rice than you think you will. I used a cup per roll when using the frame. 2) You need less ingredients for each roll- no need to cut up more than one carrot or one cucumber when making veggie rolls. 3) Prepping your ingredients ahead of time is key to making the actual roll-making quick. If you try to cut and prep ingredients as you need them, it could easily take you an hour to make a few rolls. As it was, it probably took me 15 minutes to stuff and roll three with the ingredients already cut up. 4) Sharpen your knife before you begin. A dull knife will mash you rolls as you cut them more than slice. I'm thinking about investing in a better chef's knife just so I can get a finer cut.Overall, I thought it was a great product and a wonderful way to make sushi at home. I'm planning on having friends over for a sushi party in the near future.

Works Well, Good Learning Tool
As far as the "sushi gadgets" go this is probably the best of them all. I tried quite a few in my quest to teach my staff how to make Sushi in a fast casual concept. The picture attached to my review is the result of someone attempting a Maki Roll for the first time ever with the SushiQuik and no prior experience. The results are actually impressive for a first timer. If you just want to make maki rolls at home this is a great tool. If you want to learn on a more serious level I would suggest this as a good starting point. It teaches you enough of the basics to get into more serious techniques. That being said, some parts of this kit I continue to use even though I am experienced and do not need them, specifically:-The rubber rolling mat which is very well designed. It's a pleasure to work with and unlike Bamboo mats it can be cleaned very easy. The well thought out grooves prevent ingredients from sticking and it did not deform in our commercial dishwasher. *Tip: AVOID cutting anywhere near this ting. A sushi knife will make quick work of it.-The cutting mechanism, this thing is great for portioning and cutting Maki rolls. I use it every single day and love it. Slides right over a roll and allows for perfect cutting. Make sure to get a good quality sushi knife, do not think you can use a kitchen knife, you will never get good rolls because you won't be able to cut them properly and they will deform.

Makes me look like a professional!
I wish I would have taken a picture of the finished sushi! They looked like a professional made them and they tasted so good! I used it twice so far and the process is incredibly easy. You don't have to worry about using too little or too much rice, the border tray makes it easy to keep the rice from going all the way to the edges and it holds the nori down while you're spreading the rice. The rolling pad makes it really easy also and you can give it a squeeze at the end before you remove the sushi to make sure it holds together just fine. The part you use to cut the sushi gives you even cuts. I will use this over and over.
