Quality construction, it'll last forever
For most people, professionals who use rulers excepted, a ruler is a ruler. Most folks probably go through dozens of rulers over the years and never think much about them. This ruler is for someone who, when they look in their draw for a ruler, finds the same one 30 years later. This ruler is built to last and it will always look good. The ruler is thicker than most, will not bend unless it is terribly misused, and the markings are clear and very legible. The measurement starts at the ruler's edges, something that lower quality rulers do not do and so you need to approximate where the measurement starts on other rulers; with this one you're certain.I have other, good quality rulers but some are 7/8" wide, this is 1" wide. I also like how the ruler has standard measurements on one side, 64ths of an inch on top, 32nds of an inch on the bottom, and metric on the other side of the ruler with mm's in 1 mm markings and on the bottom in 0.5mm markings with hashes every 10 mm in the center.I find this layout to be very easy to use and very clear.I'd recommend this ruler to anyone who understands that, unless you need measurements in another standard, you'll never need another ruler again.

Very pleased. High quality for a low sale price
Purchased this on Prime Day for $27 to replace one that 'wandered off'. As an aerospace engineer who dabbles in woodworking, I have high standards for measuring devices. Mitutoyo and Starrett are the best pro to prosumer measuring devices available IMPO. Yes, there are others available with higher precision. However, they are more geared for professional machinists and engineers - and are prohibitively expensive for the average garage putterer.

Precision Ruler
FINALLY, an honest-to-goodness quality ruler. A bit more expensive than most? Yes. Worth it? Absolutely. This ruler is thick and heavy, feels durable and is precisely and clearly marked. It has metric (1mm and 0.5mm) and inch (32nds and 64ths) divisions. Its zero is at the physical end of the ruler, unlike the vast majority of school/office rulers. I'm not a professional draftsman, but in a lot of my work this is absolutely a make or break for a measurement tool.It comes in a nice vinyl pouch to keep the corners from scratching up my desk. Made in Japan (NOT China), which also influenced my decision to buy it over some of the other available options.

You need it, but don't know how much
Before I purchased this I had not used a machinist rule. I had been getting by with tape measures and rulers like you would see in office. This is a game changer because you can measure from the end and get accurate readings. It is also convenient in that it is strong, yet slightly flexible, and has permanent markings for the measurements and a nonslip back. If anything ever happens to the one I bought, I will buy another one. This is a good purchase.

Finest ruler I have ever seen.
I'm an auto tech, not a machinist, but I do appreciate measuring tools, especially high quality ones. I have owned a Mitutoyo digital caliper since 1985, and that tool has never let me down, and works perfectly to this day. I didn't hesitate for one moment when I saw this was made by Mitutoyo, which I didn't know they made simple rulers.Made in Japan. Super high quality, very impressive when you take it out of the provided sleeve. You know you are holding a precision measuring tool. Excellent. A little pricey, but hey, if you don't lose or destroy it somehow, this tool will last a lifetime. Highly recommended!

I love it
Very well made tool. Can't say much else, it is what it supposed to be - a very nice rule. And one more thing, I didn't realize when I bought it it's in fact a pack of three.I have no clue why, but I originally intended to buy one.But in the package there were three. So well. I gave one to a friend and another one to my father.

One great ruler
This ruler features a durable construction with clearly marked, non-reflective measurements in both inches and centimeters. Its precise gradations support accurate work, and the dual-unit scale is practical in the U.S., where both imperial and metric systems are commonly used.
