Oggi Lustre Clarisa Carafe, Red

I read the existing reviews and they made me very tentative about this item, but I am thoroughly pleased with it! Yes, it's not metal. The "steel" part is plastic. This makes it very light weight. For the low price, it's a handsome piece, and very effective. I use it to brew my tea. It sets on the counter all day, and is nice to see/look at in the kitchen. It also keeps my tea pretty much hot until the last drop! Of course, I treat all my appliances with respect, so they tend to last longer than usual. If you're the type to dropkick this unit on a daily basis, or try to cram the lid shut, I would NOT recommend it. But, if you want something that looks good, has a low cost and is effective in keeping things hot and cold for a while, I would recommend this one.

Product looks beautiful at first. Purchased because of color, elegant look, and beverage holding capacity. It is not quite 1 year old and the silver finish is flaking off into our beverages. There is no pressure release and product spurts bursts of steam and coffee when you 1st pour. We learned to live with that. Product only held up for approximately 6 months. Does not keep beverage hot for very long, even after warming carafe with hot water. Would not recommend this product. I would appreciate a refund but alas refund time has passed. If you purchase, quickly return it before your 30 days expire.

I bought the Oggi Fusion Carafe with Tea Infuser for my tea-loving hubby. He really likes this product and so do I.It is well made and has a stainless steel finish. It is easy to clean because I don't wash it other than giving it a really good rinse on the inside and washing off the outside with a soft sponge.I have made him tea and put it in there only to have it still hot enough to drink the next day.One thing I will mention though is that I fill it via a tea kettle. It takes a completely full tea kettle to fill this carafe, so bear that in mind. For our use, we hang 4 tea bags per full carafe. We don't use the tea infuser much, though it is easy enough to clean too. The lid does turn on and so far there have been no leaks. Overall, my hubby is very pleased with his Oggi Fusion Carafe because it keeps his tea hot for a very long time, enabling him to make tea once and pour as needed.

I was surprised that this carafe is mostly plastic. I expected the black part to be, but the spout, lid, & handle are plastic, too. The carafe keeps coffee really warm for a few hours. However, while cleaning the carafe I noticed that the carafe can retain water between the handle & the body of the carafe. When you tip the carafe, water leaks out at the bottom of the handle. I bought 3 of these carafes & they all leak water out of the base of the handle after being washed. The carafes still work well, I just have to drain then well.

This is a product that I like and use every day. I really enjoy tea. I use the carafe so that I can brew a large batch, enjoy it over the next several hours, and have it remain hot.For a serious tea drinker such as myself, this is a good product. First of all, has a nice, large capacity, which allows me to brew a lot of tea at once. Second, it does an excellent job of keeping hot liquids hot. I have not tested it for its ability to keep cold liquids cold. However, I regularly brew tea in the carafe before going to sleep, and then leave it overnight. When I wake up in the morning, I can enjoy the tea immediately - and amazingly, it is still hot. I have even brewed tea in this product and left it for even longer - 24 hours later, the tea is still warm.The construction is sturdy. The wide base relative to the top ensures that it will not tip over. Even if filled and laid on its side, the liquid does not leak out unless the valve is opened. Unfortunately, as far as I can tell, there is no way to lock the valve (the red lever pictured above) so that it cannot open if the carafe should tip over and hit something. Overall, though, it is pretty leak-proof.There are two small downsides to this product. First: I originally bought this because I wanted a stainless steel vessel for brewing tea. I had been using a polycarbonate Nalgene with an infuser attachment, but I was concerned about exposure to bisphenol A from drinking hot tea out of this bottle every day. The Nalgene also did not keep the tea hot for appreciable periods of time. This carafe solved the problem of the tea cooling too quickly, but I am still a bit concerned about BPA exposure. The body of the carafe is stainless steel, but the tea infuser and top piece are made of plastic. I am not sure if these parts are made with BPA. If you are buying this product with BPA exposure in mind, caveat emptor.Second: After pouring some of the hot liquid out of the carafe, some room temperature air enters the inside of the vessel, cooling down the vapor that is left inside. This creates a vacuum inside and produces an annoying sucking sound as more air attempts to get through the seal. The sound is relieved by opening the valve, but it reappears within a few minutes.Overall, a good product and worth the price if you enjoy brewing loose tea or being able to have hot coffee all day. An assurance that the plastic infuser is BPA-free would have bumped my rating up to 5 stars.

I'm very pleased with this carafe and the infuser.We used it over the weekend to brew some loose English Breakfast tea.After I washed the carafe and infuser in warm soapy water, I filled the infuser with loose tea, filled the carafe with boiling water and closed it up.The tea turned out great and remained hot in the carafe for hours.Probably would have stayed hot much longer, but we finished drinking it long before it could cool off.I found the infuser easy to clean.I just tapped most of the used tea out into the garbage container and rinsed out any remaining leaves.No plastic taste noticed. The infuser is rather small, but I think it's adequate for the amount of water the carafe holds.We love that we can use this to brew, hold and serve hot tea, but I can easily remove the infuser and use it for serving hot coffee or cocoa at the table too.Many time when we have guests, I need the ability to start a new pot of coffee before the current one is completely gone. Problem solved and the guests don't have to leave the table to refill their cups.While we have a larger air-pot, it's often more than we need for just two or four people.This carafe is perfect!
