Interfit Strobies Flex Mount Speedlight Flash Units for Sony F56AM and Nikon SB26/27/28

Contrary to the listing and packaging claims this unit will not fit on my Sony F56AM, the opening is too small by at least 3/8". But since I have multiple flashes I tried it on the smaller Sony F42AM and the smaller Minolta 3600HSD, the result is it will not fit any of them, in this case the opening is too small by about 1/4".So I have two choices, send it back or, as the previous reviewer did, cut the rubber and hope to make it fit. It seems to me that there may be a problem at the packing facility putting the wrong size unit in the box, or the units being mislabeled when they come off the assembly line. The model number is not embossed or cast into the plastic/rubber, it's only a stick on label.The best option, if you live near a dealer, is to take your flash in to the shop and make sure it fits before you buy. It appears to be a crapshoot buying on line.Edit 12/6/10 - I was able to, after some rather extreme pulling and tugging, stretch the rubber mount enough to get it to fit on the Sony F42AM, so for me it is usable with the two of those that I have. It still will not fit the F56AM that I bought it for without cutting the rubber away from the inside of the mount.

The system as a whole seems clever, but doesn't inspire confidence.The flexmount for the SB26 doesn't even come close to fitting the SB26. I can't imagine how you could group the SB26 with the SB27/28 since the SB26 is so much larger.After an hour of trying to get the flexmount on the flash, I gave up and decided to see if it would fit if I cut off some of the inner gripping fins. I cut off enough of the fins to get the thing jammed on and it was so distorted that I immediately realized that Interfit didn't do the slightest research on the SB26 when assigning the SGM300 mount.Since I also purchased the portrait kit and am just curious enough to give it a try, I'm going to order the proper mount that corresponds to the actual dimensions of the SB26 flash face.As is the case with so much photogrpahy gear, the lack of thoroughness is a shame.
