Buy it if you can
First of all, I would like to personally thank the makers and sellers of this product as well as for the bow rake I purchased at the same time. You are absolutely the best (and not Bullies at all))) ). All the tools I have bought from Bully are the best I ever held in my hands. They are definitely made by professionals and not amateurs. Cons: NONE found so far. Pros: I honestly thought that my Husky round tip shovel was one of the best available on the market. Well, I guess I was wrong (please forgive me Husky, your product is still very well made and is good for what it's made for). Bully's shovel: 1. Optimal length for my height of 6'1". 1-2 inches longer than Husky. 2. Light because of the fiberglass stem but not very. The blade is well balanced by the handle, if I can say that. 3. The shovel's blade is well and optimally wrought. The "fin" at the top of the blade is extremely useful and allows the dirt fall off while digging easily - must have on all digging shovels! The foot rest on the blade is wide and convenient - you won't miss it, not a chance! It is much wider than Husky's. 4. The "V" handle is awesome. Optimal size for my large sized hand - only help and no interference of any sort. Bottom line, digging today was a bliss accompanied by a beautiful Californian weather. Guys, thank you again!

You will love this shovel
I like this shovel. Just pick it up and look at it and you can tell it is a quality tool. Very sturdy and lots of well-designed details. I've spent about 3 hours digging out stumps with it so far. It is so much easier to get real work done with this shovel than any of the others I have available. I broke my 30+ year old Sears Best Craftsmen and they replaced it the best one that had, but it is a real clunker; bought this one to replace the 'replacement' and am I real happy I did. I light the weight of the shovel -- not too heavy, but still enough heft to power through a root. The handle flexes a little more than I'm used to (using all-wood handles), but when it starts to bend that is probably a good indicator that maybe I'm using a little too much force and should ease up a bit on the prying. I wish it was sharper right out of the box, but that can be fixed easily enough with a flat file and 10 minutes of spare time.

Bully shovel - the SUPERSHOVEL!!! Superb.
Absolutely AMAZING shovel!!! I bought our house knowing it needed to be re-landscaped. A complete scrape-off of 30+ years of previous landscaping efforts. In addition to digging through 3 feet of rocks (in a clay-base soil), there were around 2 dozen stumps (lilacs, old cut-down trees, etc) and approx. 3 dozen railroad ties to be dug out. I hired a contractor to do the initial scrape off, but it was (and still is) an immense undertaking. I bought a couple shovels (H-Freight and H Depot), but they would flex severely when I put them to work. They're fine for my wife and kids, but not an adult male. I can easily flex the fiberglass handles and the shovel blades.... No bueno. Then I read about the Bully shovel. It is a thicker steel, no seams in the handle "receiver" (where the handle goes into the shovel head) and something unique - a welded "brace" on the back side of where the handle goes into the shovel head. I can flex the very strong handle (solid wood wrapped in thick fiberglass), but the shovel head barely moves. If I put my weight into it, yeah, the shovel head flexes, but unless it's made out of something like 1/4" steel I can bend it. Incidentally, there are other brands of shovels similar to the specifications of the Bully shovel, but at 2x (or more) the price for nothing extra. ETA: I read reviews of the shovel before I bought it and a common critique was that the powder coating/paint came off the shovel. This critique should be completely disregarded!!! (no, I do not work for or sell Bully Tools equipment) If you're digging into soil and rocks the paint is going to come off - a shovel is a tool not a museum piece. If you *use* your shovel don't worry about paint coming off or a little surface rust. I usually rinse my shovel off after using and have never had a problem...

Bukky makes great tools, in the USA, at a fair price
Bully Tools are great. Dime for dime, I haven't encountered a better line of garden tools readily available to the DIYer. This is my sixth bully shovel - I insist on having the right tool for the job at hand. This model has proven to be the choice for unloading landscape rock from my truck. The short handle and wide, comfortable D-grip are just right for the job. The head has a shallower curve than other round point shovels that let's it more easily slide into the rock pile and carries the right amount of heavy material in each scoop. Overall construction features and build quality are consistent with the rest of my Bully tools - which is very good. The working ends are all built like Sherman tanks and the handles are sturdier than necessary.

Big and heavy duty.
I cannot give this shovel less than 5 stars because it is the real deal, though not at all what I wanted…my bad. I wanted a small light sharp-bladed shovel that might help with weeding the garden; for scooping and flipping that awful grassy-clumped weeds over. Apparently I did not pay close attention to what I was reading. This shovel is the KING of shovels. It’s a monster. And it is heavy! Way too heavy for me. When my husband say it, he said it was the kind of shovel road workers use. It is not as sharp as I had hoped.

Best Shovel I’ve Ever Owned
After breaking several handles I decided to buy a quality shovel. The video of the shovel breaking a concrete block was the deal maker. I have not been disappointed. I’ve used the shovel all summer and used it to pry 100+ pound rocks out of the ground. I liked it so much I bought another model.

Handle grip ripped first time using it.
With a product like this I was expecting the handle to last more than one hour of use. The shovel blade itself is sturdy and will no doubt stand up to a lot of digging, but might be heavy for some people. Extremely disappointed that the grip ripped and slid down the shaft, the first hour of using the shovel. The top of the shaft seems to be sharp with how it was cut, so it inevitably will rip through the grip. Why don't they add a pad or something to reenforce the grip so it won't rip so easy?!

The Best
I have the traditional wooden handled shovels, and have used many other variations in my trade for leveling, trench work, poo-catapulting into the neighbor's yard, etc.. For my own home and side-job use, I reviewed MANY other brands and handle every model Home Dippy and Lowe's had to offer. I read up on this brand and it stood out, so I tried one. This is the last brand I'll ever buy. I have 2 of the Square Points, and 2 Spades, plus rakes, etc. They are HEAVY DUTY! The steel is thick, and the design is well thought-out. The I-beam construction behind the neck of the shovel adds remarkable strength to the prying force. I can put 270lbs of standing/stomping force and not feel hesitant about bending the steel or breaking the triple layered, wood core handle. The rubber grip cap is comfortable and solid, even after leather gloves hands. I know a lot of people prefer to sharpen the spade tips for root cutting and such, but my land soil is rocky, so I don't want to chance abusing this shovel beyond common sense. I am a geek and a critic when it comes to to quality USA made products, and this brand has impressed me. I know they offer a higher grade for contractors, but I can't imagine I'll ever break this without intentionally abusing/misusing it. Buy this and you'll see why. American made = Americans paid.
