If you are looking for a sturdy portable radio with decent quality sound, this is it! I like listening to the AM band, and the reception for AM isn't good where I live so a radio with poor reception capability becomes real obvious. So far, my Sony and Panasonic radios work awesome. Needless to say, both AM and FM receptions are superb. I'm not into testing each radio for its sensitivity but more for its practical use. And the Retekess TR-604 is a superb radio! It has a very big and decent speaker with a sensitive DSP turner that locks into weak signals with ease. You can easily fine tune it unlike some other DSP radios. This radio takes 3 - "D" size batteries so it should have a very long battery life even with non-alkaline batteries. Unlike some of the newer Sony and Panasonic radios, the Retekess has hi & low tone control knob. I prefer it on the low since the high makes the sound too tinny. Besides that, the design and build are straight forward and sturdy. For a radio under $20.00, I'd say this is a very good deal.

Excellent radio. Sounds great with clear sound. The low frequency sounds are able to be heard in music and voices without a tinny sound. The radio gets great reception on FM/AM, and weather bands. The radio locks on AM radio stations, and doesn't experience the crackly clipping sound with modulation changes like other radios I have used. Talk radio is clear and crisp on AM with great static filtering, and doesn't cut out or self mute when the station fades. This radio can be turned up pretty loud without distortion, making it useful in noisy environments or for the hearing impaired. The build quality of this radio is exceptionally good, and doesn't have the annoying buzzing noises when turned up like others I have used. The batteries will last a extremely long time, even if used for hours on end a day.

Great little radio! In my opinion the sound is clear even w with the use of head phones! One review said not good at all with earphones ! I disagree I use cheap wired ear buds at night when I go to bed ,helps me sleep and this radio is very clear and easy on and off as well to adjust stations! Most radios don't work well in my Manufactor home ,usually very static ,this one works without static! Im not sure how to use the rechargeable battery, but you can use with regular batteries ,it has a good regular plug! Im not sure how long batteries will last as I haven't tried yet! It all suits my needs buy it costs is great and you won't be sorry!

The radio itself is very nice, compact, and it’s easy to get the radio station you want. Just what an analogue radio should be. I have issues with the sound quality. Good: works with batteries, haven’t tested the battery life but seems pretty efficient. My son played with it for a few hours on batteries with no problem. Bad: when listening to music, there’s a distinct metallic “ringing” sound that reverberates on deep sounds or low notes. Mostly bass guitar and piano. I first noticed it when “somewhere only we know” was playing on a music station. The piano in the background of the song sounded like a person wearing high-heels walking through a concrete tunnel. Or maybe like a train crossing alarm going off in the distance. It’s distracting to the point that it’s unlistenable. I mostly use the radio to listen to talk radio, news, sports, and occasional classical music (something to have on as white noise at night). For these purposes, it’s great. I’m using it to listen to classical music right now and it sounds perfect. The violins sound like violins. The flutes sound like flutes. But songs that have a lot of bass, guitar, or backing piano, just don’t sound right on this little guy. If you plan to use this radio to listen to modern music, you might want to keep looking.

Works quite well. Solid construction, solid sound. Very reasonably priced for such good quality.

GREAT radio. It pulls in stations when others don’t. I love it. Batteries last a long time in it too. Sound is fine. Not hi-fi, but it bad either. I recommend it for the price, size, and the way it receives distant stations better than the average radio. I find myself using it a lot more that I thought I would. Also / I dropped it once from ten feet up, and the case cracked a little but I glued it and it kept going just fine. A+!

Great sound, loud and clear. Can hear in next room. Good reception, and easy to use. Well packed in shipment, great price on Amazon. Definitely would recommend!

Simple easy to use great little radio for someone looking for a more old school radio this radio doesn't have Bluetooth radio can run off battery or you can plug in to wall outlet I placed mine in my kitchen

Excelente radio y fácil de usar. Excelente recepción (hay que alejarlo de aparatos electrónicos ya que hace interferencia en AM) como se menciona en la descripción es apto para su uso en personas de la tercera edad, buen diseño y se escucha fuerte y su salida para conectar audífonos es algo que se agradece.
