Minn Kota 1865106 Circuit Breaker/MKR-19

Easy to install

Actually, this is a Minn Kota unit, not Humminbird. I just bought a new Minn Kota Terrova trolling motor and everything I read said you should have 60A protection of some sort. After researching, this was the best way to go (instead of a fuse box). The unit shipped very quickly and installed easily. I bought a 4 gauge battery cable to go from my battery to this breaker and mounted it next to the battery. I use 6 gauge for the rest of the wiring to the trolling motor. The only small issue is that cable posts don't give a lot of room to put a large ring connector on it. The battery cable I bought did just fit, but it is tight. The whole unit is much smaller than I thought it was going to be (not bad, I just thought it was bigger). I have not had it trip yet, which is good, but reseting looked easy with a little small lever in the middle of the unit. I feel good about it protecting my $1300 trolling motor.

A lot of people may try to convince you that this is not required. They are correct, however maybe you should consider this. Is a seat belt necessary? If you never crash, no it is not. That does not mean you shouldn't have one. It is an extra precaution, and will never be a bad decision to install one of these. As for the product, it works well, and a manual reset means it will not turn back on while you are cleaning your prop unexpectedly. A 55# thrust Traxxis motor is also the highest AMP draw out of any of the Minn Kota's (Yes, even higher than the 24V motors as they draw less amps but more volts) so a 60 amp circuit breaker is necessary. Just remember to place this is a dry location, clean the post regularly, and do NOT cheap out on your wiring (otherwise what is the point) and this will last a very long time. Remember, it's like a seat belt. You hope you will never have to use it, but you will be thankful you had it in the event of an accident. There is more at risk here than just your electric motor, as a short anywhere could lead to catastrophic failure.

This appears to be a good circuit breaker, but it does not have a button one can push to manually trip it. We returned it for a Blue Seas breaker that has this feature.

If you jave a 24 or 36v Riptide you need this...get it its cheaper than a fire.

These are the correct 60amp breakers that match the title of this ad. That being said, theyre also reliable and the best you can buy. I tried the generic chineesium breakers and they failed. Go with these OEM breakers and you will not be disappointed.

Easy to install and works as it should

My Minn Kota Riptide kept turning off once I turn the power on above halfway. I couldn't figure out what it was until I read another review saying that the originally installed circuit breaker might not have enough capacity to handle the energy flowing through it required during the higher speeds. I bought the circuit breaker and the problem is solved! Installation was easy and the quality is great. Good product.
