I spent a lot of time looking over the options for a product of this type. I chose this one because it has a long enough handle to actually be useable, it packs down to a small package, and it looked rugged. After examining it, I am quite confident it will stand up to the uses shown in the video. It is a little too heavy to carry on a backpacking trip unless the distance is fairly short and you know you will need to do a bit of excavating to create a level place to set up your tent.Carrying it in your car, 4WD vehicle, ATV, and on trips where you have pack animals to carry in your equipment are its best uses in my view. Even then you should supplement it with other more task specific pieces of gear such as a collapsible snow shovel if you frequent areas with snow, a real axe and wood saw, compass, GPS, water purification, tent, sleeping bag, freeze dried food, a tool kit for your vehicle, FRS/GMRS/CB radios, tow strap, etc.In the absence of a firearm of some sort, this makes an excellent self defense weapon against varmints of all kinds be they the four or two legged variety. Just recently a woman was killed by a single coyote in a local city park and there are there are frequent instances every year of people being stalked by cougars while on hiking and camping trips in surrounding national forests. If this is not the best one, this product is certainly at least one of the best available.For the company that produces this product I have two suggestions to improve this product. First, include a cap to put over the handle's end to protect the compass lens from breakage and/or to prevent the glass shattering point from stabbing the user. Second, to make it more internationally suitable include an English ruler opposite the current metric one. Those of us in the U.S. have not transitioned to the metric system as rapidly as we probably should.

I wanted to buy a set of survival tools used for spring outing a month ago, looked for a long time then found the folding shovel video is very good, so decided to buy one to check it. l cut the wood, found it is take a long time with the sharp side, but it is soon to cut off a third of wood with the gear of shovel. By the way, I also do experiment on the stone, and it is surprised to find the stone spade within 10 seconds. It's really amazing, and I am very satisfied bought a set of these tools.

This packs up nice and small, it is fairly light weight, and has several bells and whistles which might save you another tool or three to carry with you. When assembled it feels sturdy enough but takes a bit more time to prep than some other trenching tools. Overall this feels like a nice piece to add to your camping set.

i needed a compact shovel to carry in my jeep.i have not really used it yet but it seems very sturdy, like you could actually use it to shovel.it breaks down to a pretty compact size and comes with a nice bag to store it in.it comes with several useful tools in the handle and room to add more.cant wait to try this bad boy out.

The combination tool is an awesome addition. The sturdy design and multi tool applications make this tool useful for many applications. The weight of the tool did not sway my decision to purchase and actually convinced me to purchase two. Well done. Jeff

Bought the simple folding shovel. For the price, it’s good. Wish it was expandable.

It is a perfect multi tool. You would probably need only this one for most of your camping or outdoor need. it feels like very sturdy and well made.
