Struggling with being a backbiter, a gossip?
I was. I didn't even make it past the first two pages of this awesome book without being immediately convicted of my lifelong habit of being a backbiter and a gossip. In every page thereafter, I saw myself and how I've basically been a two-faced gossip all of my life and I am so ashamed of the horrible things I've said about people all of my life. Whispering things in other people's ears, offering my unsolicited opinion, rolling my eyes and sucking my teeth in derision at other people's sins when I am guilty of sin myself. If this is you, too, I want you to get this book and read it. I recommend it to you because it will do you a world of good, just as it has done me.

Hold Your Tongue
This short but definitive book is worth reading. Backbiting, calumny, lies seem to be the order of the day and is steeped in societies worldwide. This book explains in easy to comprehend languages and applicable examples the spiritual damage one does by not holding ones mouth shut. Read and repent of the times you have listened to the gossip, shared an event that damaged the subject of the gossip, or failed to speak up stop the negative gossip being told. It is hard to do, but what is harder, letting the gossiper know you are not interested in their "story" or spending eternity suffering because you did not act but instead supported the calumny being told? Open your eyes and ears and be the change you want to create. This book is no joke. I highly recommend it.

READ IT!
Wow, a book for everyone and I mean everyone to read! We have forgotten how horrible we can be just by our words! We somehow feel entitled to speak ill of each other thinking that just because something might be true it CAN be told about someone. How wrong we are. I am so guilty of this. I believed as long as I'm telling the truth, I'm entitled to say things about others. Gossiping is so wrong, I didn't understand the magnitude of how wrong it really is. I do now. It's hard to stop sometimes but I now at least catch myself more often than not and stop. Read it, kids read it, young and old alike! READ IT

Devil got your tongue?
I learned so much reading this book. I never realized that even listening to someone talking about another person's faults in an uncharitable way could be a mortal sin. Father Belet teaches us what the sins of the tongue are, how to avoid them and how gently stop others from doing this while we're around.I highly recommend this book.

A must read!
My tongue comes off its roller too often. After reading this book, I have been awakened to the suffering a loose tongue unleashes. I will re-read this book often. Very inspiring and insightful.

Clear Writing On Difficult Subject
Translation from French 1870's book (at 45 pages perhaps a longish treatise) on backbiting.Who has not suffered or inflicted this toxic act? It has become so accepted it may be uncultured into 21 st century USA and particularly made seemingly appropriate in the media now that journalism is dead.I will be far more sensitive to it's harm in participation of it, and regrettably feel and repent my own.Excellent writing, and translation.

Mensagem simples e direta
Um livro que reforça o quanto se deve observar as palavras que saem de nossas bocas e o quanto é importante zelar pela reputação alheia, nem mesmo dando ouvidos ao que de mal se fala dos demais.

Brings to light the seriousness of this sin and why we should take notice and guard what we say and also how to respond to people who back bite .
