Still amazing even after a decade.
The henna I have received so far is from the 07/2023. That's nearly nine months old. The fresher the henna the better stain. I used to practice henna tattoos and dyed my hair red. Jamila was always my favorite as it never had the chunks of plants and always dyed a beautiful red. First photo is of my second dye. This dye I used apple cider vinegar and lemon juice ONLY. I wrapped my CERAMIC bowl in a towel and let it sit on top of my warm oven for a couple of hours. I put the henna in and left it in for seven hours. I wrapped in a shower cap, then a garbage back, and wrapped a towel on my head to keep in warm. Twice I used my hair dryer and blew in around my henna soaked hair (still wrapped) to add extra heat. Second, photo is my first dye. Didn't do a whole lot, added some warm oranges. This one I did a long slow release with red wine and lemon juice and black tea. I waited it for it to release for 48 hours and spaced out and went outside in the cold. I think that messed up the dye. Third, photo is months of dying my hair with mostly Jamila henna. The last photo is my natural color. I am dirty blondish color.

Great Jamila
This henna product is so very lovely. I am super impressed with the softness and dye capabilities. It easily applied to my 4c hair, washed out and covered the greys. While I didn't notice much dye staining through the curing process (5 hours), I had zero coverage issues after application and rinsing. I love it and am looking forward to ordering again. Also I must add that as an avid professional henna user, this product was very fresh!

Perfect, consistent color
My Go-To brand of Henna when it comes to coloring my hair. I always get the perfect shade of coppery red that I love. Ive tried other brands and the color is never consistent, but this brand is.

For the moment this is the best henna in the market
I have been using this product for years, and I might say that henna saved my hair. My hair is stronger, healthier looking. I have been combining it with some brown/black heena just for the roots, so to get away that strong orange color in the roots ( I have a lot of greys now), and for the rest of my shoulder length hair I use straight Jamila Henna. For the moment this is the best henna in the market. I might say though that 2, 3 years ago Jamila henna was a better product. Still I'm satisfied with it, and I use it every two weeks.

Happy henna'ed long hair
Doing my second application tonight so I figured this would be a good time to leave my review! First application was on 5/2/17 -- see before, after, and 4 week pictures attached. My hair is waist length, thick and naturally light brown with blonde highlights. (It is just a boring, unsaturated color, but I like the natural highlights.) The "before" picture actually makes it look a little redder than it naturally is, unfortunately. It was also dirty and a bit wavy from being in a bun. ( See the second pic for a better "before" color reference.) The difference between my before and after IRL was pretty huge. My hair started out with "reverse ombre" because I stopped dying it almost black dark brown, and let my natural color grow in. The ends were a bit damaged from all the chemical dye. The first day or two I had what some might call call "orange fright" -- it was very, very orange. I had wanted more burgundy, but I like having weird colored hair, so it was fine by me. By week 4 it had settled into a natural looking auburn, and my natural highlights are still there. As of this review, it's almost week 6 now, and the color has not faded from the week 4 picture, but my roots are starting to show and it's looking a little colorless up top again. I am really happy with the conditioning effect it's had on my hair, in addition to adding a little color. I'm going to leave it on for 6+ hours tonight and hope for a darker, more burgundy tone. I'll update my review with another before/after pic for my second application. UPDATE! Second application was a major success! I mixed the 100g with hot water, and let it sit in my warm garage for 2 hour. Then applied and left on for *6* hours. Yes, SIX! Let it air-dry overnight in twisted plaits to get curls, and vavavoom, I am in love!! See the third pic.

My first Henna treatment!
This was the first Henna I tried and my experience was it was alright. Though my experience may have been better if when I was mixing it I didn't add too much coconut milk that resulted in it being a little runny making it more like a melted chocolate texture. I also was in such a rush that I applied it one hour after letting it sit(it was also during the week and I had to work in the morning so i only applied for three hours then over nine hours the second time around). I will say it was a nice smooth texture and easy to apply and wash out. I also DC afterwards as one should since henna can be drying. My hair strands are thicker but I didn't notice my hair being more soft. I am glad this is a BAQ henna also. I mixed mines with coconut milk, lime juice and added olive oil after letting it sit. I was going to order again but I decided to try a different brand just to see if I could see a difference. I just did the application last night and have to say I like the other brand better(the one that has the 9 herbs added in it), but that could have been 'cause this time I made sure the consistency was thick like pudding and let it sit for three and a half hours as it says to do. I also left it on overnight and washed out in the morning. I will probably stick with that brand since it has all the extra goodness in it, but if I was to go back to a regular BAQ henna this one would probably be it. I am an African American woman with mostly 4a hair with some 4b, 4c and in the nape a 3c section. I will continue to use henna 'cause after the third application I really see a difference in my hair. I don't really see much color change unless I'm looking in the light, I have no gray hairs yet. I will add though my order took longer to ship reason being I ordered something that I did not know was backordered, I had to contact the seller to ask what was the hold up to be told the order was coming in that night. But it didn't come in as thought so I had to email the seller to see why it still hadn't been shipped and was told it did not come in yet. So I just decided to have the henna shipped. The staff was very friendly, however it would had been nice if I was told the item was backordered instead of me having to contact them to find out, I otherwise wouldn't have ordered that item. Other than that, great company to order from and will continue to do so.

Be careful...
I've ordered this same brand from other vendors and been using henna for 24 years. I've never received henna that's brown in color. I'm used to henna being a shade of green when fresh. The stain was active immediately after mixing. The date on the box says it's from a good harvest but the contents show otherwise.

My favorite henna for my hair
This is my favorite henna powder. I use it to color my blonde hair copper red. I use a mixture of 1 part Jamila, 3 parts cassia, and lemon or lime juice into a paste. I freeze this mixture because that gives the best dye release without damaging the dye molecules, which heat can do. You can freeze it right after mixing it, when it is still green, then when it thaws, instant dye release every time! Two hours gives my hair a beautiful Ariel the mermaid red color that turns into a natural copper red in about a 5-7 days. Sometimes though I leave it on overnight while I sleep because this adds more volume to my baby fine hair, and the acids in the juice remove hard water deposits which will turn henna’d hair greenish over time. This product is not gritty like some brands of henna that I have tried. That makes it easier to apply and rinse out. Because it washes out nicely, I do not smell like a horse the next day which is a plus if I have somewhere to be. The results are always reliable so I am not guessing if I will look like a “flame head” the next morning. I can use this brand over mess ups caused by trying other brands on a whim, this is always the one that looks the best. I recolor my hair every other month. With some brands, I have had to color every month. It has also made my hair thicker, fuller, and more resilient to styling, which I love. After dealing with damage from oxidative hair dyes and thinning from a thyroid problem, I am happy that I have healthy full hair again!
