Q: Anyone that recntly bought this did you have to modify your pipes or was it just a undo the old one and screw on the new one

If your old one is the same size where the pipes thread into it, it will change right over. After you remove the old one, clean the threads off, apply dope or 6 or 7 revs. of tef tape clockwise. Slide compression not over the incoming male adaptor or threaded pipe. Thread the pvr onto the threads on the out going pipe WATCH YOUR ARROW!! insert washer and tighten compression nut. If the pvr isn't the same size and the pipes don't have any play in them you will need to .........just call a plumber lol!

Q: does it work with variable pressure supply? Or the supply has to be at consistent pressure?

Yes it does work with variable pressure, as I'm on a well and the water pressure goes up and down when the well pump kicks on.

there should be a tag with an identifying number on it, also replace your valve a same manufacture of old valve, less hassle when replacing.
