Great read, but...
An amazingly captivating read. All through my childhood and teenage years I wondered how it was possible that the mighty USSR was brought to its knees, into political chaos as well as mass starvation, with the populace literally freezing in subzero temperatures, all in the midst of the 20th century. The author did an incredible amount of research, and pieces together the whole story, revealing modern day super villains to rival anything seen in a James Bond movie. He further goes into the machinations that threw the former Yugoslavia into massive protracted warfare and ethnic cleansing for the financial benefit of a few (what else is new?), and moves on from here. It's so well written that I found it difficult to put down at times. Think Game Of Thrones, with modern day characters and nations fighting for dominance of our modern day Westeros. I should know, for having just finished that whole series was looking for something engrossing to read and hold my attention, and this is it. Once you learn who is who in the world of modern intelligence, and after removing all the smoke screens and mirrors thrown onto the world scene you will be dumbfounded. This is no "aliens rule us" or "Illuminati" type of fantastic conspiracy book. It's very down to earth, very well researched and keeps you turning the pages. My only criticism, and I hope against hope the author reads this, is that such an amazing piece of work should have gone through much better editing and proof reading, as quite often in the book the punctuation is simply not there, which will cause one paragraph to morph into the next, causing the reader at times to have to back track to understand it correctly.

This author is honest, thorough, and has professional integrity.
I found it both refreshing and unusual to read a non-fiction work of investigative journalism executed with such meticulous attention paid to backing up one's statements with reliable sources, AND properly and extensively citing said sources. Mr. Estulin is a archetypical investigative journalist of the original idealistic stamp. He is a tireless researcher, and has the integrity and unwavering commitment to reporting the truth that is so seldom seen in this modern age; an age in which "spin" and sensationalism is seen as a fitting, and even preferable, substitute for the honest, clean, and bracing tonic of truth that Mr. Estulin offers, without apology, and pulling no punches, either. I enjoyed it, even when it made me feel uncomfortable. I recommend it to anyone.

Shining Light on What Lurks in the Shadows
I previously read Estulin's book, The True Story of the Bilderberg Group, and it is probably advisable to read it before this one, to get a better understanding of who these shadow masters are and the depth of their control and influence on world governments. This book details specific historical events and how they were controlled and manipulated by the Bilderberg group to get the results they wanted, to further their efforts of a one-world government... run by them.Estulin shows how the collapse of Russia in the late 1990's was accomplished to take over all of their natural resources at bargain basement prices, all done with U.S. taxpayer money funneled through the IMF. The money never even left the U.S. The situation in Kosovo was similar, with the exception that they had to start a war there to get what they wanted. No matter who is in office, the same advisors always seem to be in power, and the same non-profit "think tanks" spew out the same mis-information. Why? Because all these news organizations and reporters are all part of the CFR. Public opinion is manipulated to suit their agenda.Policy is established first, then the intel and facts are disemanated by mainstream media to corroborate and "fix" the policy. The shadow masters do not want bad news - Afghanistan is not about protecting the drug trade, it is about bringing democracy to a primitive land. Kosovo was not about seizing natural resources, it was about freeing oppressed people. The author did some painstaking research to show the inconsistencies in the collapse of Russia and the Victor Bout case. Situations and people may change, but the process the shadow government uses remains the same. These one-world order masters understand that ideas are more powerful than weapons and bombs.Good book to read to get a different perspective to explain what is going on in the work right now.

The book was ok
There was some good information and evidence about how officials in the US government and the media can put take evidence on some man. However, the writing seemed directionless at times and it seemed like bunch of information compiled together, which becomes a drag on readers. There was no opinion either to what he thought may have happened after finding all this evidence. Not worth the time for readers to read this book.
