Underwhelming. Needs better designed features to function well.
Please not that I am wishing to use this in a birdbath and want the unit to stay in the middle of the bath at all times. Preferably, I want the suction cups to hold it on the bottom of the bath, slightly under surface, with only the nozzles spraying water above the surface.Item is made well and does what it says it will do, if you have full sun. Works okay in partial or lightly shaded position. Problem for me and my application is with design. The solar charging module is offset from center to allow pump outflow to be centered, of course. But the pump itself is also offset from center. So the weight and the protrusion of these modules beyond the bottom of the foam ring glued on for buoyancy cause asymmetric list, which is small, but comes into bigger effect as described later. You CAN pull off the pump from the back of the circular panel, but since it's hardwired to the charging pack, there is only so much play, if you are trying to balance the weight with the buoyancy, and the pump outflow is asymmetric to the body, too. Being an off-the-shelf pump, it comes with three functional suction cups. They are enough for the pump, if it were by itself. They are of insufficient capacity with the rest of the fountain kit. The foam ring always overpowers the suction, so it will NOT stay attached to bottom of glazed bird bath. After any attempt to suction to bottom, unit eventually starts bobbing up where suction is weakest and flotation is strongest. Anything of rougher texture and they cannot hold at all. This is not cosmetically appealing and it causes further problem of directing water OUT of the bird bath, if there is sufficient power from solar gain to do so. So, you empty your birdbath. Further, if it is freefloating, it drifts to one side of bath, because of the slight list when floating causing sprinkling of water to hit one side of circle, forcing it the opposite way. This also causes it to empty the bird bath. Finally, even if it was centered and level, I believe it will dry out your bath by faster evaporation, especially on windy days. You'd have to have a 'make-up valve' supply set up. That's beyond most folks interests. So, for me this solar fountain kit is not useful, out of the box. What I may do is to cut away the foam float and create and attach support legs so that it will rest on bottom. Further, I will add some window screen around the pump inlet for better exculsion of debris that it loves to suck up, since it is close to the bottom of the bath and stop up the small holes in the outflow.IF you are using this in large volume of water, that won't get emptied by the fountain action, and with depth over 6 inches, so it won't suck up debris and clog up, and you have full sun all the time, it will work out of the box. But, I'm thinking if you have the first to requirements, this is probably 'too small' to be enjoyed. Get something bigger and hardwired and with better debris screening.

Died after a week
This is a cute idea and was pretty good for the week it lasted. I had to remove all of the sprayer heads because the wind blew the water out of the birdbath and drained it too fast. That required frequent refilling of the birdbath. With the sprayer heads off, it made a pleasant, low bubbling action - just enough to move the water around and attract the birds. The instructions tell you how to attach the heads but make no mention of how to go about clearing the filter. The pump can be pulled off of the the plastic base, and the filter cover pulled off so that you can clear the filter when it clogs up, as it quickly does. It seems to be best to use a hose to unclog the parts you can't reach directly. Anyway, it completely stopped working within a week, so if you're looking for a fountain that lasts, keep looking. Unfortunately, all the solar fountains that I've looked at seem to be about the same.

Out of the box, add nozzle, water andhave Fun
An amazing way to turn your bird bath or any other small container of into a moving flowing fountain spouting small stream of water into the air. When I took it out of the shipping box I heard a small humming hinting that it was ready and after attaching one of different nozzles that came with it, I put in the the water. Within a minute is was squirting water as it floated around. Very Cool! It has been going for a few days now, starting with sun at dawn and going back to sleep at dusk. If you take it out of the water give it time to re-prime and recharge if it has a battery backup. It might take a few minutes. If the water has debris it could stop up the pump intake, that will come off and can be unstopped.

Needs 3+ inches water to float
We intended the FLOATING FOUNTAIN for use in our Wild Birds Unlimited plastic bird bath to stir the water to attract the birds. Our bird bath is too shallow to use the float any longer than a few hours. For the fountain to float, the bath needed to be completely full. The breeze would blow the fountain to the edge so it would spray the water out, and then the bath would not have enough water and the fountain would stop working. We now put the bird bath away until the grandkids come over.

GARBAGE!
This thing worked for 8 seconds out of the box and just crapped out. Barely any instructions. Searching the Q & A it should have had some kind of protective film on it. It did not. It should work after charging for two hours. It does not. The worst part is you cannot contact amazon, just choose whether you want to return it on your dime. They need to send a call tag for this hunk of garbage. Is making me think twice about continuing to use amazon.

Good product
I have only had this solar pump for a few days. So far, it works quite well. I have been pleasantly surprised by how long it continues to run after it is no longer in direct sunlight (a few hours it seems), so I am glad I went with one that has the solar charging battery. It arrived very quickly after I ordered it. The only reason I am giving it four stars is that it doesn't come with anything to anchor it in a particular location. I am using it in a bird bath and so it would be nice if it could stay in the center, but it floats around the bird bath. If you are using it in a pool or pond where you want it floating around, this should do a great job.

Works fine
I like this fountain for my birds to bath in. I thought the sun charge would keep the battery going for a while once inside, but not much. So I keep a bowl full of water with the fountain in, on the border of my window, so the birds go when there is enough sun to get a small spray of water for them to bath. So it's doing its job fine but keep checking if enough clean water if you want full charge. If not, the charge and fountain stop automatic.

Works well
I bought this for my pond but it has a lot of small duckweed on the surface and some algae. I thought maybe the action of the fountain would keep the duckweed away enough to keep it from clogging up. The fountain works very well and shoots a high stream of water up, much more than another brand I tried a while back but after one day, it clogged up the spray fitting. This is not the fault of the fountain. I put it in my horse trough and it is working great. I am very happy with it.
