Sakkas Everyday Essentials Caftan Tank Dress/Cover Up

I have ordered Sakkas clothing before (specifically a lovely embroidered shirt), so I knew what to expect in terms of the material and embroidery. Yes, these items are a little fragile. You simply have to wash them by hand and air dry them, and considering the material they dry VERY quickly!!!! I am a size 18/20 normally, so I was a little worried about how this dress would fit since I recall a reviewer saying the arm holes were small. The armholes and neck opening are fine! The neck line fell on me exactly to where it falls on the model in this pic, and the arm holes were fine (not to loose, not too tight).The Sakkas shirt I've had for over a year is still holding up nicely. A bit of the embroidery has unraveled near the seam next to one of the arm holes, but it is not distracting, and if it got worse it would be easy to find gold thread and run a few stitches over the spot to secure it. As for this dress, I haven't washed it yet (Sorry, does that make me weird not to bother to wash it before wearing it?)...it did *NOT* have a smell to it whatsoever (I recall a reviewer mentioning a smell, although that could have been for a different Sakkas product review, sorry my memory is foggy after 3 kids and sleep deprivation).ANYWAY, so I wore it to a high school graduation and it was lovely. Yes, you will want a slip or pair of shorts underneath, as it is a little see-through in bright light. I have recently ordered a pair of all cotton culotte slip (the kind that look like shorts) and am sure those will work well under this dress. You don't need a full slip if you don't want, as I asked a couple of good friends (who would tell me the truth) if my bra was visible in the sunlight, and the answer was no (and in the mirror I could not detect my bra either).This dress fit *very* well, and even had room to spare as it is a very flowy dress. The material is soft and it "swings" a little. We're traveling to a tropical location next year, and I know this is going to work well (it was pretty warm for the graduation and I was very comfortable).Ladies, this dress is slightly mu-mu-ish in that it does not suggest a waist line. For me, I find that to be a positive, as I don't care to show my rolls and lumps and bumps to the world. It is a simply but lovely dress that will keep you cool in the heat, and looks fine wrinkled or ironed (personally, I wouldn't iron it as it may be too much on such a fragile dress. If you want it to last as long as possible, stay away from heat such as irons and the dryer). I plan to go back and order the other colors now (I got the lavender color, which seems sold out at the moment - sorry if I got the last one!)This definitely would be great for just tossing into an overnight bag as it looks fine with a few wrinkles and those wrinkles did tend to smooth out over the course of the morning. Overall, very happy with the purchase! This summer is going to be a great one with such nice, easy dresses as these :)

This is the perfect length for short people! I bought one on 2007 in Fort Lauderdale, FL. I love it so much I hoped I could find something similar and this is exactly what I was looking for!!!!

Very pretty ... but shorter than pictured and very thin fabric

It is much shorter than it looks in this picture and snug across the chest. I had to return this (no problem) but if you prefer longer you must look for the word LONG in description. This one is cute but not my style.

This is a feminine, flowing, lightweight dress that is perfect for summer. It's 100% cotton, made in India. I have lots of clothing made in that country and love the look and quality. I ordered the mint which is beautiful, but a darker mint color than the photo. Some may call it a greenish turquoise. I do have some other mint clothes, which are lighter than this. It's still a very nice color. I'm a size 16, 43" bust and it fits well. There is plenty of room in it. Larger women could wear it, but not sure up to what size.I just steamed it easily with a clothing steamer, as I do all my clothes. I haven't washed it yet. Since it's delicate, I would recommend putting it in a net/mesh zippered laundry bag, washing it in cold water on gentle cycle and hanging it dry. That's what I will do. It is somewhat sheer and should be worn with a slip, at least on the bottom half. I'm wearing mine now with cotton/polyester pettipants (a shorts style 1/2 slip) available here on Amazon.It's a great summer dress at a reasonable price.Note about pettipants: I went to my orders for the pettipants, which were mostly from 2011. Many of the ones that I ordered were made by Illusion and sold by Under Moments. Unfortunately, they only have small and medium of the cotton/polyester right now. There are some made by Cotton Half Slips which are similar and available in some larger sizes. I love them because they prevent discomfort and chaffing around the thighs. I use mine under fuller styles of skirts and dresses quite often.

I love this dress, but I gave it only four stars because it is soooooo sheer! Even with all the proper under attire, ANYTHING that is under this dress (at least in the white, which is what I got) is going to show. It is however a very lightweight and super soft dress. I can't imagine a color dress for hot weather. I suppose you could even put the right type of top over the top and wear the dress while only showing the skirt part. With the right accessories you can make just about anything work to your advantage. It's possible you might even want to sleep in this if it's too sheer for outside, because you would be hard pressed to find a lighter, softer nightgown. It would make a nice cover up over a bathing suit I suppose, as long as you're not trying to actually make sure that no one sees the suit underneath - because they will! I kept it because I know I will make it work in one or another of several ways and it just feels so nice that it's maybe better than wearing nothing at all. How many things can you say that about?

This is my favorite Sakkas dress since I started buying them 4 years ago. It fits better than some of my older dresses. It is very lightweight and comfortable. I get compliments on my Sakkas dresses all the time. I wear them several times a week and I love them!

I like that it is so lightweight.It is a little shorter than I thought. Well above knee.

Love this dress to just putter around the house and on the deck during the hot summer months. It's easy and breezy and so, so comfortable. It is see through so, I wouldn't wear it out and about town but would work as a swimsuit cover up.

This is the second dress I have bought from Sakkas. Both have been good quality items, well finished and nicely detailed.This caftan/dress is however, VERY SHEER. It is nearly transparent, so I will probably need to wear a slip under it for day-to-day wear. It might be OK around the house or poolside, but I would not wear it out & about without something under it. Bit of a shame as the point of a dress like this is to be cool & comfortable and adding a slip will significantly reduce this. Still pondering whether or not to return item or just keep it as a house dress. If it was slightly heavier fabric, like the other dress I bought from Sakkas, it would be a 5 star rating.

Very nice, I use this as a coverup and for relaxing during the day while in Cuba at our resort. It is absolutely fantastic for that purpose - light, breezy, relaxed, looks nice, easy to take on and off when going in and out of the pool, and dries quickly if it gets wet. Highly recommended.

I'm 5 foot 10 and this dress cones just above my knee. It fits well as I'm usually a size 14 . It's loose enough for comfort and looks too good fir a beach cover up. It does crease
