Delicious Wu Long Big Red Robe tea
This is a very nice Wu Long (Oolong) tea. The tea can be steeped multiple times (easily 3-4 times) making this high quality loose leaf tea economical. I do the initial steeping with just off the boil water for three minutes. Subsequent steepings are done at slightly longer times and leaving some of the previous tea in the cup to blend with subsequent pours. The tea I received came packaged in a brown kraft paper bag with sealed plastic lining and Ziploc style closure, keeping the content airtight. The label on the packaging read 100g (3.5 oz) Organic Premium Da Hongpao Big Red Robe Wuyi Mount Chinese Oolong Tea. The color of the liquor produced from this tea is amber/honey in ambient light, but literally glows orange like a brilliant sunset under direct bright light. The majority of the leaves are whole, consistent, and rolled lengthwise into strips or needles. This is a darker, roasted Wu Long. I won't pretend to be an expert at picking up subtle flavors or smells, but to my nose the initial smell is warm tobacco, vegetal, and floral. Mouthfeel is smooth and keeps the mouth wet and fresh with just a hint of astringency at the back of the tongue. The taste is vegetal, wood, dark chocolate, char, earth, moss, tobacco, floral, and a hint of sweetness. Aftertaste is classic Wu Long earthiness. I'll definitely be ordering again from Goartea.

GOARTEA Big Red Robe, Dahongpao
I'm not a tea expert at all, but this is tasty goodness. Legendary Big Red Robe. I guess tea can vary from batch to batch and harvest to harvest. What I received was a self sealing pouch with long dark leaves and buds, and a small dessicant pack to protect from humidity. A wonderful aroma filled the room when opened, and the adjcent rooms when steeped. I made a couple large pots today, each about 900mls, and enjoyed this delectable treat all day long while working. First steep, brought water to boil, removed from heat, waited 20 seconds, poured the hot water gently over loose leaves in a borosilicate vessel, steeped for just under 2 minutes, decanted to a porcelain serving pot. Second steep was about 2.5 minutes. The nectar is amber to red. At first taste a little bit of charcoal embers or smoke, then a spicey tingle on the tip of the tongue almost like ginger, followed by a silky smooth finish. Hints of pu'er like flavors, and also some green, with a slightly fruity and fragrant after taste.

Good value
For the price, this tea is good. The initial taste and essence is alright, and it has a little bit of the delicious aftertaste that I like in Da Hong Pao. It doesn't resteep as well as it should. Harney and Sons sells this volume of Da Hong Pao for about $60, so $14 from GOARTEA on Amazon is a great price, although it is certainly not as good in an absolute sense. It's a good value if you aren't really picky.

Nice oolong tea - brew gong fu for best results
Nice oolong tea - brew gong fu for best results. Has a nice aroma of fall woods and dry leaves after infusion. Can be brewed strong with very little bitterness. Nice astringency, mildly tannic.

Yum for a price
As a long time tea drinker, I prefer Japanese green. However I do drink black and oolong. This is a fantastic oolong, nice “liquor” it’s complex and subtlety sweet. It took some experimenting to get the right temp and time (just under the boil for over 4mins) to bring out the many layered profile, and I haven’t been happy with a second steap, something to keep in mind when looking at the steep price!

Very good price for a Big Red Robe tea
The price for this tea is excellent given the distinctive flavor, body and aroma. I found the first steep to be a full bodied cup and luscious. The subsequent steeps, two or three, were not as full bodied and delicious as the first steep but tasty and very acceptable. The price is very low given the flavor of that first cup. I've also tried the Harney and Sons Big Red Robe which is outstanding with the quality outshining this tea. However, the Harney and Sons price is also outstanding as be expected. Different teas for different occasions in my mind. I recommend this tea and keep it in my cupboard using it as a regular, everyday tea.

Weak taste. Low quality

Flavour is weak and also dies after the first brew. Temp used: 95C Time used: 90Sec per steep, +30 per additional. No flavour past the first brew. Real WuYi teas can be steeped up to 8-10 times.
