Five Stars
I love this subwoofer, it gives me all the enjoyment that a power subwoofer can produce.

Great addition to surround sound.
Very good sounding addition to my surround sound system. A powered subwoofer like this one makes the small speakers that are used in many surround sound systems improve sound quality to the level of very high proceed audio systems. I have wood floors and high ceilings in my cabin and this down firing subwoofer is made to take advantage of the acoustics.

Nice looking unit
Nice looking unit. Not as strong as my old JBL 10" but will suffice. I had to turn it up more than my old 10" and still am not getting the same "thump" but I like it o.k. Good for the price and fast shipping.Hope it will last as long or longer than my old one...

Looks nice but sounds poor
No longer sold, but mine came defective. Works, but at all volumes, buzzes like it has a blown driver.

I have this hooked up to My Yamaha Av receiver and some basic surround speakers. Cranking up the bass on the back is really fun as it rumbles the apartment. Playing Xbox on it sound fantastic. I still wonder about the neighbors below me as there is a downward facing speaker on the box. Overall no problems and great subwoofer not just for its price, but the quality as well.

I did quite a bit of product research prior to making this purchase and honestly, given the price, I was skeptical that the product would perform but I have been very pleasantly surprised. Bottom-line.....It Rocks ! One of the reviews I read indicated that it got better after it was used for a while. I found this to be true as well. I use to play bass in a number of bands in my youth so clean, solid, punchy (when required) is very important to my ears. This sub delivers ! If a middle of the road sub is what you're looking for, I can assure you you'll be very satisfied with the OSD S-12. By the way, my previous sub was a Yamaha....no comparison, completely different league. Hope this helps. Cheers !

Update: I bought this Sub-woofer for $99 for it's current price of you can get better from any brand. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Price for performance WAS great. Over all bass quality for Normal Music 9/10 Over all bass quality for House 6/10 (Distorts and Bottoms Easily at high levels) Over all bass quality for Movies 10/10 Build Quality 10/10 (All box seems are lined up, good heavy construction) Used with a Pioneer VSX-321 and a Asus Xonar sound-card for Dolby Digital encoding via PC. Sub Settings (X.over @ 150Hz) Amp is providing a (X.over @ 80Hz); Gain at 20%. System 5.1 in a 12x12 room. Notes for people who are a little inept when it comes to setup. It has High-level and Pre-amps IN and OUT for Left and Right Front Speakers. - SO if you have a dedicated Sub-woofer High-level or Pre-amps from you home theater amplifier, hooking up to just left or just right will not cause any problems.

A 'Subwoofer' by definition is 'below woofer' frequencies (20-40hz) and since this box is tuned for 47hz (if memory serves, measured internal volume and port {curved port!?} but that was a while ago) it is far from sub frequencies. However, what this is, is a 12" woofer with limited excursion and high Fs that is meant for SPL... not SQL. Most bookshelves speakers with 6.5" woofer will reach these frequencies, just at a lower efficiency. Purchased this for our local gym needing the SPL at a low cost, and of courses tested in house first. After listening and comparing to my multiple other subs, there is no way I would purchase for home theatre use, bottoms out quick and frequencies below 47 hz tuning sound like a flapping torn bat wings. This "Subwoofer" just muddied the sound mixing with my full range towers and destroyed music; movies distorted on any high demand bass effects. The box volume is much too small for extended bass. So why the 4 stars after the two paragraph bash? Once installed (corner loaded on shelf) in large gym (14' ceilings), this thing opened up! Still no low end but if kept at moderate settings (volume gain 60%, crossover at 80hz) it filled the air space for the narrow bandwidth of 50-80hz wonderfully, mixing well with wall mounted bookshelf speakers (See review: Monoprice 108251). Like the Monoprice speakers this powered woofer is on basically all the time and no quality issues. I had to use the high level speaker wire inputs due to no sub out on stereo amp, and it works very well with amplifier output signal. Verdict: can find much better actual subwoofers at this $200 price point. a person might be better off ripping out the on board amp and building custom enclosure with better driver even. This set up seams to use the same base amplifier circuitry as the OSD Audio SMP250 (can't get anymore though) which I own and love, it's just the rest that was sacrificed for costing. Any feedback (positive or negative, I can take a hit), questions please comment. Simon

This high powered sub is more like low powered driver if even that!!! The amp at best supplies 20 watts RMS giving it's 2 amp fuse rating! My computer speakers without subs give better bass response and sound quality than this unit does hooked to a dedicated sub channel from my home theatre
