Quality ALA
This ALA supplement is of high quality and appears to be effective as I feel I notice a difference when taking it as part of balanced diet and supplement regime. No adverse side effects observed. As with all products by Pure Encapsulations, it comes at a premium price.

I use A.L.A for energy levels, an anti-inflammatory, an antioxidant and for skin-health.
I use Alpha Lipoic Acid for energy levels, as an anti-inflammatory, an antioxidant and for skin-health. Alpha lipoic Acid needs more research; but it’s benefits are potentially very diverse and far-reaching. Having produced supplements myself, I can say that “I know when I’ve forgotten-to take-it.” But not everyone benefits by consuming A.L.A. Even when I performed a clinical trial, the results were largely inconclusive for some; whilst others better skin health and seemed-to have more energy. So, trialling a good product like this Pure Encapsulations derivative, at 600mg per-capsule is a good test of whether this will actually work for you. Although it's important to say that there are differing forms of Alpha Lipoic Acid. R-ALA and S-ALA. Amazon tend-to delete my whole review when I go into detail, but there's a stable version, and a less stable version of A.L.A. And I may be partially-blind, but I saw nothing here to state which derivative this A.L.A. actually is; or whether it's a blend of the two. And knowing this might have helped me to decipher the probability of it working for 'others'. You need-to take-it for long enough; and that could prove expensive for most with this specific product. One capsule should be enough, as 600mg is plenty unless you are seeking nerve-pain. 2-3-capsules might be required for that ailment; if you duly suffer from this symptom on a regular basis. It costs over £70; (currently) which would probably not be economically-viable for most to take even ‘one capsule per-day’, let-alone two for just a 30-day supply of A.L.A. It’s positive benefits and positive effects are not in-dispute, here; but this is only for the privileged few. But if it’s safe for you to consume-it, and you can afford-to trial this A.L.A. just once to test its potential benefits; then do it. Most good-quality A.L.A. is expensive, but when the results between seemingly similar individuals can be so mixed; I think that the price has to come-down for most to be able-to afford-it, before the ‘tested on humans’ research is widespread enough for it’s true potential is truly known. This particular product does present positive elements to myself; and it might for you, too. Five-stars for the product, and two-stars for the price.

High-Strength ALA from a Trusted Premium Brand
This is a high-strength ALA supplement that feels very clean and well dosed. The capsules are easy to take, and it’s reassuring to know it’s both water- and lipid-soluble. As expected, it’s not cheap, but Pure Encapsulations are one of the best brands when it comes to ingredient purity. The 07/2027 expiry is good, making this a confident purchase.

Subtle support with a clean formula – great if you’re sensitive
Started taking this mainly for general antioxidant support and energy, after reading up on ALA and its potential benefits for blood sugar and nerve health. I trust Pure Encapsulations as a brand because they keep their ingredients clean – no fillers, weird coatings, or stuff my body doesn’t agree with. The 600mg dose is on the higher side, which works well for me, but I’d say if you’re new to ALA, maybe start with one capsule and see how you go. I take mine on an empty stomach in the morning, and I’ve had no side effects — no nausea, no jitteriness, and no aftertaste. Energy has felt a bit more steady, and my hands and feet, which sometimes get a bit tingly when I’m run down, have been less sensitive. Could be coincidence, but I’ll take it. What’s good: High-strength dose in just one capsule Clean, hypoallergenic formula – no unnecessary extras Easy to digest – no nausea or acidy feeling Supports energy and nerve health subtly but steadily Suitable for vegetarians What’s not: Best taken on an empty stomach – can be easy to forget A bit pricey for a 60-capsule bottle, but you’re paying for quality If you’re after a no-nonsense ALA supplement that’s gentle but effective, this one ticks all the boxes. A good option, especially if you’ve got a sensitive system and want something reliable.

I can’t understand why these are so expensive
I’ve used ALA from other brands, which are about £10 for 60x 600mg capsules on Amazon. So I was very intrigued by this brand because there must be a reason for the price. Unfortunately, I can’t understand why these are so expensive. The ingredients are the same. The amount per serving is the same. The other bulking agents and capsules are the same. So what is actually different? I have no idea. Ingredients: Alpha Lipoic Acid - the active ingredient Ascorbyl palmitate - a form of vitamin C Microcrystalline cellulose - a bulking agent Vegetarian capsule (hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose) - plant-derived capsule Ease of swallowing: The capsules are relatively small and easy to swallow if you are used to taking pills. They don’t leave an unpleasant aftertaste. Packaging: These capsules come in a plastic tub with a screw-shut lid that seals tightly. The lid isn’t childproof. Side effects: I’ve not had any side effects from taking these every day. I do have a sensitive stomach, so if they haven’t caused me issues, then they should be fine for most people. I think if you want to try ALA, there are plenty of brands to try that aren’t so expensive. I wouldn’t really recommend these simply because I can’t understand why they are priced at seven times more than the alternatives on Amazon. Facts about the supplement: Country of manufacture - USA Vegan? - Yes Non-GMO? - Yes Organic? - No Sugar-free? - Yes Allergen-free? Yes. Free from dairy, eggs, wheat and soy. Gluten-free? - Yes Other pack sizes available? No Best Before Date: About a year after the date of receipt.
