Keveren's best work
I have been a fan of Philip Keveren ever since I was a 12 year old aspiring pianist. Now as a 35 year old woman, I appreciate his style even more. This book is his best work! The scales, key changes, and bridges between medleys are so well done that even the novice musician will sound like a professional!

Just what my granddaughter wanted.

Great Arrangements
These are a bit more difficult than some of the other Keveren arrangements, but they sound great and a a bit longer than most of his things since they are medleys. I highly recommend them!

Very showy but very beautiful!
At first, I did not like this book, as it is very showy- it is not quiet background music before church begins, or meditative for Communion. But, as I have played these medleys, I appreciate the segues from one hymn to another, and realize that if you need a book that showcases your ability to play- to lift up your talent to the One who gave you that talent, this is the book to do that! A pianist can also take apart the medleys for a short prelude or postlude.

3 1/2 stars... Too difficult to be labelled as appropriate for Late Intermediate/ Early Advanced
I own several of Phillip Kevern's other Piano Solo books, and I am disappointed with this one. Many of the pieces in his other books are highly accessible and playable, but the pieces in this book are too difficult for me to play. For me the most difficult musical aspects of this book are the plethora of parallel octaves, fast arpeggios, the fast tuplets, some of the accidentals and some of the chords cannot fit in my hands. He is a great composer, but this book is definitely for a more appropriate for a moderately advanced player, and even then would take a great deal of practice to be playable.A year later:I have given this book another chance and I still have the same problem(s) with it. I realized that it wasn't just the difficult passages that were frustrating to me, but it was that every piece included some extremely difficult passage(s) that I couldn't overcome and play.
