Just a quick fry and enjoy a crispy snack!
I can't say I've met a shrimp chip I haven't liked, and these are no exception- Light, crispy, fry up big. Don't be afraid to try it! Just heat a few inches of fry oil, and test one- when it puffs up, use tongs to take it out! If they are too brown, lower the heat or pull them out faster. They fry in seconds, so it will take just a few minutes to cook up one entire box. If you miss shrimp chips you've had in Asian food (sometimes as garnish in Chinese or Thai food, or in gado gado), and live far from any Asian Market, I really suggest giving this product a try- I ALMOST bought ready-to-eat chips on Amazon, which is so expensive and requires too much packaging. (I also like to buy uncooked chips when I travel in Asia too, because they are easy to carry! A very fun souvenir from Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei, etc.) I included a photo of the before and after chip size, and you can see the 1 package of chips yield a big freezer bag of chips (plus some because I ate a few already hahaha) Sorry for the poor photo quality, I also over-cooked them a little bit. I can't say much about price, I thought it was fair for buying it in USA- I think the quality of these is also quite high (kind of like a gift, in a nice box and not too many broken pieces). If you are from Asia, you are probably shocked, hahaha. I just hope my review encourages more people to try making shrimp chips at home, because it's FUN!

Great texture! Read on, for a fair assessment.
I grew up with shrimp chips in Hawaii, and the Walmart there sells boxes this size for $2.19. TEXTURE: So I fried these up traditional way (more on that later, as most of the reviewer photos I have seen look very burnt to me), and the TEXTURE is Perfect! Light, Crisp, Melt In Your Mouth Clouds! (If properly cooked, they will not have any hard, uncooked bits.). FLAVOR: 3 out of 5. Mild taste. I can taste hints of prawn. What I personally dislike is that these have sugar in them (a not insignificant amount. If you deal with Diabetes, I would try to find a brand that doesn’t use sugar.). I never had them with a faint sweetness, which is what you will have here. It’s mild, but there. Altogether, it is a mild, pleasant chip with memorable crisp. (A crisp more light yet crunchy than the biggest, freshest Cheeto!) Unless you MUST have a reasonable presence of shrimp flavor, these are enjoyable. Health: OK. These are traditionally deep-fried. If cooked correctly, they should look white, no brown or tan tones or edges. (You can eat those, but they are burned.). This brand has MSG, which is in a ton of fast foods, frozen, premade, the list goes on. It is a neurotoxin. Yes, all of Asia embraces it. But it is nevertheless true, according to top international researchers from reputable universities of divers ethnicities. Yet most folks love the umami flavor. At any rate. If it matters a lot to you, it has MSG. Other than that, deep fried chips are just never healthy. But these are a fluffy, memorable treat! To Cook Them Right: I used a saucepan with about 3/4-1” of Grapeseed Oil. (Any high-smoke oil works.) My gas stove dial was at nearly 4. Whenever the chip seemed to be blooming AND browning (ie. Burning) quickly, I just turned the burner OFF for a couple of minutes. And kept making chips. (This may sound fussy, but it all gets done quickly. You can get the hang of it quickly, and it’s fast work.) This is my way of not letting the oil get/stay too hot. I use a small pan for less oil. I tip the pan if need be to have a deeper pool of oil than if the pan is flat. I drop 1 chip then a 2nd. As soon as the 1st is fully puffed. I tong it out onto a dish with paper towels, to absorb extra oil. Once I’ve removed the 1st chip, the 2nd is ready. It goes fast, even doing it like this. We don’t like our cookies burnt, or cakes, or fries. Why would we not care to not burn shrimp chips? I use my air fryer a lot but have not tested it with these. From photos I have seen, the chips look overcooked. Kudos to those wanting less oil. This is one of the few recipes I will stick with deep frying. My best advice is read ingredients. There are many brands with varying ingredients. But the texture is amazing on these.

Great in the Air Fryer, not so much microwaved
This is a good brand that I'm happy with. Light and crispy texture with a nice prawn flavor, but not overpowering. I used to fry prawn crackers up in oil in a skillet on the stove. I thought they might be a bit better/faster/healthier if we tried cooking them without the oil, so we tried both the microwave and the air fryer. In the microwave, the variances in the time it took and the inconsistency in each chip puffing up made us elect not to make them this way again. The air fryer, though, was great! I set it to Air Fry setting at 360 degrees F for 2 minutes. Allowed the fryer to preheat as usual, then added the chips as instructed and let them cook for the 2 minutes (no turning). They came out very slightly golden, perfectly puffed all over, and very consistent. We'll be doing them this way from now on. Delicious!

Tastes like cod liver oil
It tasted like cod liver oil and they do not do returns...so you absolutely can't get your money back.. probably why they don't have any reviews up

DELICIOUS & GREAT VALUE BUT OILY -NEED TO BE FRIED!!
I used to see big large bags of these shrimp chips years ago for cheap. Now they're expensive to make so we can only get them if we make them ourselves? They are delicious but beware if you're health-conscious. You have to FRY them in oil so they'll be oily. You could dry off the oil on paper towels, but you still have to fry them in oil first. You can make bowls of chips from just 1 box--a great value!

Buyer beware...expiration date is one month from date of purchase.
I was very unhappy to find an expiration 'use by' date that was only ONE MONTH from my date of purchase. It can be said that something like this can be used a little bit past the date, but a month from date of purchase tells me that this was OLD and sitting on a shelf and I was the unlucky consumer who it was sent to. If you buy these and plan to put this in your pantry for a later date, just be aware. You may want to use these right away or pass it up for another brand. Pantry items should not have to be consumed immediately after purchase; that defeats the whole purpose of having these on hand for when YOU want to use them, NOT when the manufacturer wants to get rid of them. I will now have to make a definite plan to use these this month for the holidays altho' I didn't plan to...not happy about this.
