THE BEST I've Tried So Far
This TriRelief is a very good product! This item is supposed to be for pets. However, the company makes the same "Tri Relief" ( Q-Based Healthcare)for people. It is really nearly the same thing as the people version. The one for pets will not have anything toxic in it.UPSIDE: I tried the pet version on myself first and it instantly went to work! I used another brand on my other elbow - of which both elbows had equal pain. This product Tri Relief worked immediately and took all the pain away. That was about four days ago and it has not returned. I applied it to my dog's carpal joint (wrists joints) and it went to work immediately on him too. There was an amazing noticeable difference in his stride and he put more weight on the leg as the day went on. I use it as needed and it is the best things I have tried so far for him and myself. I used other brands on myself like Aspercreme, Hot Aspercreme, Icy Hot, Ben Gay, Tiger Balm, and Vicks Vapo Rub (which is also for sore muscles), and none of these helped my elbows as quickly, strongly, and for the duration that this "pet" formula did. I tried Absorbine on my dog and some other pet stuff and none of them seemed to help as much as this formula. Some commercial formulas did not work at all.DOWNSIDE: The product has a pleasant "herbal" odor BUT it is very very strong and some dogs and cats may not be able to tolerate it well. It has a typical menthol/camphor smell and is stronger than anything out there except maybe Vicks Vapo Rub. Do not use Vicks on your pet as it is very toxic. But this product is very good and if your pet will allow it to be applied, it may work well for them. Be careful on applying to birds as there is nothing on the label for birds but I used to raise birds and they are extremely sensitive to odorous things and they may have a respiratory reaction. For your convenience, here is the label:Information: "TriRelief joint, arthritis, and muscle cream for pets penetrades to effectively relieve the swelling an dpain associated with arthritis and inflammation in joints, tendons and muscles. Safe and Gentle TriRelief provides fast, long lasting pain relief without dangerous side effects or risks to your pet's heart and health.Directions: Rub in small amount to affected area as needed. relief lasts up to 24 hours with one application. Use daily or as needed."And here are the ingredients:"Active Ingredients: Camphor, MentholOther Ingredients: Almont oil, barbadensis, balm mint, caprylic/capric triglycerides, celeth-20, cetearyl alcohol, cetyl alcohol, chondroitin sulfate, cyclomethicone, d-glucosamine hydrochloride, emu oil, extracts of arnica, ginko biloba, glyceryl stearate, imidazolidnyl urea, methyl paraben, MSM (methylsulfonylmethane), peg-75 stearate, plantain, propyl paraben, propylene glycol, purified water, rosehip and wild thyme, sodium hyaluronate, sterate-20, stearyl alcohol."Warning label: "External use only - avoid eye contact. If condition worsens, cease use and consult a veterinarian - Do not use on pregnant or nursing mothers. Do not use on pets under 4 weeks of age - keep out of reach of children."Note: Although Camphor and Menthol are toxic to animals, this formula seems to provide it in a non-toxic distillation. Additionally, I like the other herbals in it like Barbadensis (for circulation), mint (for cooling agents and opening the pores of the skin), Chondroitin (for joint cartilage rebuilding), glucosamine (for joint rebuilding also), arnica (for pain), ginko biloba (for circulation), MSM (for inflammation), and others. Much of the benefit of these properties are soaked directly through the skin and transport to the blood stream through the water/fat barrier of the skin instead of taking the oral route of digestion like pill forms. In this way, the ingredients bypass the liver filtration system and go directly to the blood stream. The way I use it: For my dog, after his physical therapy, I wrap him in a warm towel and let his muscles relax. I apply the ointment to his carpal joint (wrist). I have shaved this area with a very close shave so the wrist and skin is exposed. After applying the ointment really well, I wrap a small rectangular doubled piece of gauze around his wrist which also extends above and below the joint. Then I use an elastic wrap (you've seen these - they are stretchy and come in colors and are a kind of crepe paper look to them that can stick to itself) and I wrap it very snugly about five or six times or so and cover the gauze completely. I wrap a hot towel (you can heat your bath towels in the microwave) around his joints and let him rest. You do not need to wet the towels to make a hot towel. Just put a dry folded towel in the microwave and it will be moist and steamy when you take it out. For a full person size bath towel, I heat it folded in the micro wave for 1 minutes and 45 seconds. It comes out piping hot. I shake it out a bit to release the steam and then wrap the dog's joints (and his whole body if he wants it). I keep the towels and the wrist wrap on for about 10-15 minutes or so while he gets his massage and then remove the bandage or wait until it is all absorbed. I take off the wrist wrap and gauze and wipe off the excess ointment. Then I keep his joints warm in the warm towel. You can have an extra towel handy to warm another one when the first one cools off. Two towel rounds is plenty for my dog and it has helped him with major significant difference in his mobility. He puts more weight on the leg and stands stronger and has all the signs of being pain free. I do not need to use the ointment all the time because it has helped so much.If your dog has long hair, you may want to shave those areas that need the ointment, otherwise you will use up a lot of ointment to get at the spots you are trying to target. The reason for wrapping the dog in hot towels after a physical therapy session (in this case swimming), is to keep the muscles from cramping and getting hard and to keep the joints warmed up so they do not get stiff - particularly if the weather is cool. It also goes to work and immediately warms the joints because water, unless it is very warm, can further aggravate aching joints because of its damp properties. The favorite part of my dog's session is the hot towels. And by wrapping the ointmented leg, it traps in the heat and also helps to cover the worst of the strong odor which my dog doesn't like. He dives into his towels and can't wait for this part of his therapy. This is very good product and I recommend it - even for people. It worked great on my dog and me. The price is kind of high but my dog is worth it.Please do not respond to my post IF you are going to criticize and leave some negative comments about what and how I treat my little best friend, my dog.If we can keep our responses to my post about the product, everyone can benefit and have knowledge and information about it (and not turn Amazon into a trash blog.)

My dog didn't mind me applying this to her aching joint
What I liked about this product is my dog didn’t mind me applying this product and I think it helped her arthritis symptoms a bit. What your dog might not like is the strong smell of menthol.

Quality product with good results. A little goes a long way.
I use this on a dog with arthritis. He has a pronounced limp in one leg. I massage this in once a day, as prescribed in the directions. I make sure to spend enough time (5-10 min.) so the medicine penetrates sufficiently to provide relief. There's a definite improvement when I'm done. Yes, the massage is part of the relief, but this topical really works. And my dog is worth the small amount of time I spend trying to give him some comfort. Since this can only be applied once every 24 hours, I also do an extra massage if I see him in discomfort.

It's a good product but needs to come in a larger size and lower price
It seems to have some effect on my girl, but not really much unless I slather it on. She's a german shep so it takes quite a bit to penetrate that fur. I rub it in for about 10 minutes but the fur keeps me from getting all the areas I need and the jar is extremely tiny for this job. I would expect something like this for dogs to come in a jar literally 10 times the size of this. Especially for the price. I wont be returning this as I do see a difference when I use it appropriately for my girl but it will not last very long. If I use it on more than one dog (my other one is about 110lbs), it would take the entire jar in a week after rubbing it on his sore areas (tail bone, hips, legs, all 4 feet, upper back shoulder area and neck). My girl is 11 years old. She has arthritis in a lot of areas that I have to put a lot of work into to keep mobile. This helps, but will not last anymore than two weeks tops if I use it sparingly.

CAMPHOR IS TOXIC TO DOGS
Camphor (the MAIN ingredient) in this is TOXIC to dogs!!! I didn’t know until a few hours after I applied it to my 17 year old dog thinking it would help her arthritis. A couple hours later, she vomited a ton, and had diarrhea, which she NEVER had! I can’t believe how irresponsible this manufacturer is to not even issue a warning!!!!

Worked well on a 15 1/2 Year Old Lab after one use
I have a 15 1/2 year old Lab. This winter has been rough on the arthritis she has in her hind left leg and front leg. Although technically its a way to "mask" the real issue of arthritis, I will say it works. I went a week with accidents in the house because she was too sore to get up or to slow to make it out the pet door. After the first application she was walking, slow but that's to be expected she still has arthritis. I used it for a week and there was not one accident, she was able to move about enough to go in and out the pet door and is back to greeting me at the door when I get home. I would recommend it, but it is expensive and can run into a lot of money if you select to continue to use it especially for a large dog. The jar only lasted me a week, in fairness I probably used more to get through the thick coat of fur and I used it on several areas. Come spring, I can shave her which will help in the amount I use. I am going to try another product I found only because of the cost but if it doesn't work I will come back to using Tri Relief.

This stuff is great!
This stuff works well. It seemed to help my pooch. Although he refused to tell me for himself. Lol However, my neck got really tight one day and I decided to give it a whirl. It really helped loosen my muscles. I would definitely recommend!

So far so good
I have used this product on my 10 year old border collie mix for just one week. He has arthritis issues in both hind legs and is dealing with a recent dog park injury (knocked down by an unruly and stronger dog). Because of the recent injury I am not able to comment on effectiveness for the arthritis yet. I will continue to use and will provide a review update later. BEST PART so far - Cody loves lotions of all kinds but totally leaves this alone because of the camphor/menthol smell.
