LOVED this book for classroom lessons!!
I used this book for classroom SEL lessons at the K and 1 level. The books by this author are engaging, not too wordy or long, and they allow for great conversations on kindness, empathy, perseverance, and fitting in. My students loved this story of the popsicle stick, and we had so much fun making our own stick characters after our read aloud and discussion. My students have loved all of the books I have from this author! They have noticed on their own that I have several books by this same author. They also enjoyed the illustrations and were excited to point things out during our lesson together. I want to get ALL of these books!! They're excellent!! Thank you! :)

I love Sticks!
A sweet , fun, artsy, and inspirational book all in one! What fun to read this authors books! Sticks goes through a journey from what he once was to what he becomes. With the help from blue bird and others, his confidence builds and he becomes more than what he ever thought he could be. I loved how the scribble crew was planted in this book. Makes it so fun! Then, an added attraction is there for you at the end of the book! Fun stick project kids will love making. This is a book for kids and adults to enjoy together!

Great classroom resource
This book really spoke to me! As a recent college graduate, at the age of 50 I am embarking on a new career as an elementary school teacher! This book is about patience, fresh starts, and finding your right place in the world. I will be reading this to my class during the first week of school and we will use it as a writing prompt to discuss making a fresh start and setting goals. The book is well written, the pictures captivating and the book jacket is even a poster! I had the book jacket laminated and it now hangs in my new classroom!

This book is such an amazing book for kiddos
I love this book! It’s filled with a great lesson, and has an extended learning activity at the end to apply the lesson in the book. It’s well written, great illustration, and easy for kids to follow. 10/10 recommend this book.

Ever had a stick left when you finished a popsicle?
SO, You’re the one with the leftover stick! This is serious business, exactly where did you place this super talented stick? Did you even try to give Stick a helping hand? Of course I know that you’re busy, Stick was not too busy to politely hold your frozen treat until y o u were finished. Quickly find Stick and as many of its sad, lonely, discarded relatives as can be located.YOU, my friend, are about to change History. First gather all of Stick’s clan and gently bathe them in warm soapy water and dry them. Stick always says that it’s hard to do your best when covered with icky sticky. Now, let yourself dream. Pictures of the many possibilities will drift like puffy white clouds across your mind. Many clean sticks can be glued together to make a bird feeder like the one in the STICKS book. Just one of Stick’s clan would make a good bookmark. A teacher or parent could write special notes on sticks - like: good listening during math; your homework has been showing extra care; thanks for sharing pencils with Ann so quietly; your room looks so great!; what a big help to have sis read to you- the things to say are endless and each child can save in a ziplock. Put many sticks in the garden to show what is planted in each row.As you can see, you, Stick, and his clan can change the world.

Great Book
Absolutely loved this story, and the art work within the pages as well. My daughter is a couple months shy of 3 of 2 years old. She has to for sure find two things, everytime she goes out. A rock, and a stick. She loved this story as well. It's the first book of many from this artist that will be added to her library. I had to go out of order, not like there really is one....and get this one first, because, sticks rule. The moral of the story, made it all that much better too.

Lovely message of hope
A beautifully well written story touching on how things in life can be re-used in ways we may have not thought of. Purchased for my son who has been watching the recent 'One Planet' series on Netflix, this book is fun yet highlights the need to re-use and recycle materials, which is such a great message for the next generation.

Fabulous Illustrations with a great moral to the story
I am in love with this Indie author/illustrator Diane Alber....... She sparks creativity and provides a moral message in the story. I am a teacher and my students absolutely loved the story and were inspired to create their own artworks afterwards. It is one of the most popular books in our classroom.

So much fun!
The message that everyone has a place in this world despite (and because of) their differences is so powerful! And as an added bonus there’s a fun craft idea at the end!
