Kato USA Model Train Products P42, Amfleet and Viewliner Intercity Express Phase VI, 4-Unit Set

Very happy with this purchase. The train arrived quick and in great condition. Very fast compared to the other Bachmann locomotives I had. Also not a bad price for a a high quality locomotive and 3 other cars, made in Japan.

This is a great way to start recreating an Amtrak train in N Scale. It's not an entire model railroad in a box, but if that's what you want just add a track set and a power supply. The back of the box has all the info. The P42 locomotive is the backbone of Amtrak's fleet and has pulled most of their trains around the country since the mid 1990s. The locomotive model is accurate, well detailed, and runs incredibly well. It's quiet, smooth, and looks great. I particularly like the lit number board, headlights, and ditch lights. It's easy to add sound and digital control, too, if you use DCC on your model railroad. The coaches and sleeper are also beautiful, accurate models which roll smoothly. It's easy to upgrade them with lighting kits, and they already have fully detailed interiors. Additional cars are available which can expand the train to any size desired. Kato's N Scale trains are easily my favorites. They aren't cheap toys competing with the less expensive sets you'll find at big box stores. Those sets typically run poorly, look cheap, and don't last long. This set, on the other hand has beautiful, well engineered models which are a real pleasure to collect, display and run. Anyone who loves trains will appreciate these models for years to come.

Got this starter set last September 2024. Added a second P42 locomotive and a baggage car. Runs very well. Very smooth operation. Looks good on my little layout.

This is KATO which means quality and beauty. Out of the box it is smooth. Attractive and sleek, it is realistic. I am a huge N scale fan and this train does not disappoint.

-Kato trains are well built. -This Amtrak set is built well and really exact paint scheme. -you can run Bachmann on these tracks but if you run a Bachmann engine with sound option, it doesn’t work well on these tracks

Kato makes fantastic trains. The detail and quality are top notch.

Just got this amazing set from Kato ,looks fantastic .I love a Japanize quality, this is a second set wich I purchased from Kato and I absolutely love it, can*t wait to run it, but first want to say thanks to amazon for outstanding job
