Neutral rating because of sourcing question
The small size makes this kibble appropriate for a wide range of dog sizes. This salmon version has that fishy smell that appeals to dogs, but it’s not so strong an odor that it stinks up your house.I like the ingredient list, but the package says: “Made in the USA with carefully selected domestic and imported ingredients.” To feel safest, I sure would like to know where the imported ingredients are coming from. Simply Perfection is a newer Amazon company. I posted a question about ingredient sourcing on the product page. I’m sorry to say there has been no answer. This is particularly disappointing considering that my question was posted on an Amazon product page and it’s an Amazon product. Often when I post a question, a representative of the product’s maker will answer it. Not here. While the product appears to be high quality, and the sourcing is probably fine, I’m giving this a neutral three-star rating because of the lack of information about sourcing.

My dog wants nothing to do with it.
My dog would not touch this food at all. One sniff and he walked right away and the bowl sat there all day untouched. Filled it at 7am and at 5pm it was still full and hadn't even had a nibble out of it. Waited longer and again he still hadn't touched it and had been looking for scraps. If ally I felt awful for him and figured he was starving by now. Gave him something else and cooked him a boneless chicken breast. Next day was the same thing. He wouldnt touch it. I put a can of food with it hoping it would entice him. No such luck. He just wont go near this stuff. And the canned food I mixed with it is one he loves and usually scarfs down.

Ingredients Sourced From Where?
I ordered Simply Perfection Super Premium Grain Free Salmon And Chickpea Dinner by mistake because I didn't notice that it doesn't meet all of our minimum requirements. It has everything I look for in a food to feed our fur kids, except that at least one ingredient is not obtained from U.S. sources. More often than not, it's not an important point to dwell on, as long as it's spelled out exactly what the ingredient is that isn't from the U.S. and which country is the source. I saw that the question of sourcing was asked on the product page, but as of today, it still has not been answered. I don’t want to delay my review more. I can’t recommend any dog food that doesn't clearly state that it uses no ingredients sourced from China. Pass.

Two of three pups liked
Of our three dogs, two of the three seemed to enjoy this food. The other isn’t a big fan of anything overly fishy or seafood-y, and this kibble has a definite odor of fish to it. Nothing that is so strong you immediately have to open all the windows in your home and bust out the Febreeze, but when you open the bag you can tell that this kibble is fish based, not red meat or poultry. The kibble is also a little more oily than others thanks to the fish oil. The two pups that enjoy this food don’t mind this at all, and prefer getting their Omegas this way versus as a big gel capsule.Nutrition wise, this food appears to be a decent choice and not deficient in any nutrients. Our dogs all like the Simply Perfection canned/wet food, and we thought they’d like the dry version as well. Of the two doggos who gave this food a try, one of them ended up with a few days of salmon tainted toots for couple of weeks. Usually our dogs don’t show any kind of tummy troubles when switching between foods, but this time one did even with the slow change between foods as recommended. This disappeared once he was fully adjusted to this food, but it’s noteworthy as it really rarely happens. Would we buy this brand of food again? Sure, though probably in the beef or chicken version.

My dog loves this food - thinks it's a treat!
Simply Perfection Super Premium Grain Free Salmon and Chickpea Dinner is a real winner with my 10-pound dachshund. The kibble size is very small, less than the size of a dime so it is very easy for her to eat since she has lost quite a few teeth. She has a snuffle mat and the vet suggested giving her a quality food rather than treats with a lot of chemicals and fillers. This certainly fits the bill and she adores the salmon flavor. It does have a fishy smell but she is really attracted to that scent. The ingredients are quite similar to the prescription diet she already eats and so far it has caused to issues with her stomach. It contains salmon, menhaden fish meal, dried chickpeas, dried potatoes, dried peas, pea protein, chicken fat (preserved with mixed tocopherols), natural flavor, calcium Phosphate, salmon meal, dried Egg product sweet potatoes, peas, carrots and tomato.(vitamin E supplement, Niacin Supplement, d-calcium PANTOTHENATE, riboflavin Supplement, Vitamin A supplement, thiamin mononitrate, vitamin D3 Supplement, vitamin B12 supplement, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Folic Acid), Citric acid (preservative), mixed tocopherols (preservative), l-carnitine, yucca schidigera extract, rosemary extract.
