Q: The add says the can is7 lbs, but the label says 3 lbs 10 ounces. Which is correct?

Both are correct. 7lb 1oz is the weight including the syrup. 3lb 10oz is the drained weight (of the cherries, without the syrup). At least one competing brands (Toschi) spells this out by writing Net and Drained next to the two numbers. (Net is the weight with the syrup... but not the can itself. If you weigh the unopened can, you'll get the gross weight). Luxardo only gives the net weight on its products but the product description page typically says "The percentage of Marasca cherries in jars and tins is about 50% and so is the percentage of syrup." This, apparently, is how it is done by all concerned.

We opened the cherries the day we got them and transferred them to glass jars which we could keep closed. This was several months ago and they are perfectly fine at room temperature. Hope this helps.
