The Great Piano Works of Sergei Rachmaninoff (Belwin Classic Edition: The Great Piano Works Series)

A lot of the pieces are simplified. The transcription of the rhapsody on a theme of Paganini (which is one of my favorites) really is lacking. You can find a lot of the original pieces as they were intended to be published on IMSLP for free. I bought this so I wouldn't have to keep a bulky binder full of Rachmaninoff's music. I was disappointed with how the pieces were stripped of certain notes that are essential to Rachmaninoff's piano music to create the write tones, counter-melodies, harmonies, etc... I've also only played from the book a handful of times and the binding is already splitting (max. I've opened it 15 times, which is not a lot for a book intended to be used daily). I handle all of my piano books with care as I intend to pass them on to my future children. The problem with the binding is, it's not sewn but instead is glued poorly. I would give the book 1 star if it weren't for the pieces that are good, and the lines are a good size that is easy to read even for someone like me who has poor eye sight.

This will keep you busy for some time working on these great pieces.

Top. But do not buy it unless a master Piano performer. Rachmaninoff is NOT easy!
