Great engine.
This engine has been an absolute work horse for me. I mounted it on a swisher trail mower and I put it through its paces over the last couple of mowing seasons. It has yet to let me down. Worth every penny. I had to alter the pull behind mower a bit for the new engine but once that was done it bolted right up and fired up pretty much instantly. If needing a new mower engine you can’t go wrong.

Check the size of the verticle drive shaft you need and have a little help lifting onto the frame.
I purchased this one year ago and use it a few times a week for our stable animal clean ups and cutting grass. The installation went in fine with a little help from my Grandson to lift it onto the frame of my GD LA120 which I have had for 17. I recently replaced all the wheels, tires, belts, blades and steering mechanism, so I decided to go for this upgrade instead of buying a new tractor. My original BS 21hp gave me 860 hours of life before freezing up and giving up the ghost. I was very careful in ordering as I wanted to make sure I had the correct shaft size and everything would fit. The fuel line needed to be extended, other than that I don't recall having an issue with the installation. I have about 40 hours on it in AZ dry heat so very happy since it saved me about $2k if I bought new.

Excellent Replacement Motor
The New 25 HP Briggs and Stratton engine was a great replacement for my tired old 22 HP Briggs and Stratton motor. The new engine fired right up and has lots of power. Really nice to have it not bog down when the mower deck is engaged. It saved me from replacing my entire mower at this time and will likely get us another 3 or 4 seasons out of our old John Deere lawn tractor. That would make it about 20 years old upon retirement. Not bad for a ‘box store’ mower.

Was very surprised at how quickly I received my order and how well crated it was. My old mower engine got to leaking oil badly. I checked getting it repaired, buying a used engine, or repairing it myself. The whole new larger engine turned out to be most cost effective except for resealing the old one myself. My problem was needing the mower so couldn't risk running into the inevitable parts problems if doing it myself. Pulling the old engine and installing the new one only took a couple of hours as it was a direct bolt in replacement. The new one fired right up and runs great. One thing I didn't expect is an automatic choke. I just removed the old choke cable. Now I am resealing my old engine as I'm not under pressure. I'll have it as a spare should it be needed.

I want to know what warranty it has
Bought this engine March last year a have 10 hrs on it. Parked the mower and week later it started smoking and has on power. Try to kick on the mower deck and it stalls out. Put new plugs because the old one was oily. Now it’s got a blown head gasket. Not happy with it.

Perfect replacement for blown motor on John Deere
I have a John Deere E140 that had a bad oil leak at the crankshaft and blew the motor. I contacted briggs who directed me to the local dealer to look at the exact engine model and type code. There are many type codes that are very similar and compatible and the briggs dealer was able to confirm compatibility of thus one. Amazon was 150 cheaper so I ordered through here and it came in 2 days in a huge amazon freight truck. Upon unboxing the motor was in good shape and packed well. It comes with a gasket kit for the muffler as you will need to supply a muffler. Thankfully my old muffler fit perfectly. Also the old engine mount bolts are self tapping and the new engine block does not have the mount bolts pre-threaded. Use your old bolts to carefully thread the new block - I did this before mounting the engine as it was easier to see. I hooked up the few cables, throttle, and air/fuel lines, and filled up with oil and she cranked up in about 10 seconds after the fuel got flowing. Overall, it was not too hard and I got up and running to cut my yard a few days after my engine blew. Very pleased with my purchase and time will tell if this briggs engine will hold up and not have the oil leak like my original.
