Starbucks needs these
The Starbucks in my town have started replacing their standard plastic lids with sippy cups. Ironically they'll still gladly hand you a straw with your drink. And sadly it's clear the newly designed lid is thicker and therefore uses more plastic than the standard lids that accept straws. OK end of rant. I'm phasing myself out of single-use plastics. I bought a Yeti reusable mug, I make my iced coffee at home now, and I use these biodegradable straws. They easily last the lifetime of your coffee sipping experience and you can feel good knowing that the straw is the only thing you're throwing away AND it won't sit in a landfill for the next 325 years. If you do the straw thing, shame on you if you're NOT buying these.

Received them….wrapped….darn it!
Bought these because they were supposed to be unwrapped. Even the description says unwrapped. Now I have to unwrap them all before placing on lemonade stand. (Folks simply do not know how to throw trash away on their own.)

Doing our best to be environmentaly responsible.
We're a waterfront Pub in Portland Maine trying to do our best to keep Casco Bay clean. For nearly a two years we have been providing straws to our guests only on request. We've tried a couple of different biodegradable straws, but have found this one to be the best because it doesn't taste funny and it degrades after the guest has finished their drink. Compared to other biodegradable straws, the price is fair. We also like that they're unwrapped. Isn't wrapping a biodegradable straw somewhat defeating the purpose?

Compostable, but ONLY in a commercial composting facility
I purchased these believing they were generally compostable. I guess I missed the fine print. They can only be composted in a commercial composting facility, which means they are essentially the same as plastic unless you live near such a site and are willing to collect these straws separately and deliver to the composter. I've included a photo of the end of the box which gives more clear info on the composting issue. On the plus side, they do not dissolve or taste disgusting like paper straws. I also hate the texture of paper/cardboard straws, so refuse to buy them. These straws function as well as plastic ones and I've noted no air holes in them. These straws do not alter the taste of your beverage. I have not tried them in alcoholic or hot beverages, so I can't speak to their function in these situations. I will look for a better option for my next purchase.
