Product Description IMAGINE ORIGINAL MEMBERS ROGER WATERS, DAVID GILMOUR, NICK MASON & RICHARD WRIGHT BEHIND THE SOUNDBOARD TELLING YOU ALL THE STORIES ABOUT RECORDING THE BIGGEST AND BEST SELLING CATALOG ALBUM OF ALL TIME. desertcart.com The most phenomenal recording in rock & roll history is thoroughly examined in Pink Floyd: The Dark Side of the Moon. The Floyd's 1973 masterpiece remained on bestseller charts for nearly 14 years, and its enduring importance is honored here by all four members of Pink Floyd and key personnel (engineer Alan Parsons, mixing supervisor Chris Thomas, sleeve designer Storm Thorgerson, and others) who played essential roles in the landmark album's creation. Produced for the Classic Albums series that originally aired on VH-1, this thorough and thought-provoking study highlights a track-by-track dissection of the LP's master tapes (including the spoken-word passages that bookend the album), superbly interlaced with archival footage, early demo tapes, concert animations, and latter-day acoustic performances by David Gilmour, Roger Waters, and Richard Wright to demonstrate each track's contribution to the final mix--a sonic exploration that extends to the illuminating bonus features. Informative interviews abound (including Rolling Stone senior editor David Fricke), and much-deserved credit is given to saxophonist Dick Parry, solo vocalist Clare Torry, and former Capitol Records chairman Bhaskar Menon, who fostered the album's U.S. commercial success. For Floyd fans, musicians, and studio technicians alike, this is a must-have addition to any DVD library. --Jeff Shannon Review: A Pink Floyd Thriller Retrospective - Having travelled all over the USA to see Pink Floyd when they have been stateside in concert during their fabulous touring years, I was wild to get this DVD, particularly since I saw them LIVE in concert with "Dark Side of the Moon" in the 70s during their amazing tour. It was the start of Pink Floyd becoming an unnparalled Icon. This DVD stimulates memories of many a blazing night watching PF wind everyone up and blow us all away. It was great to see the original artists (including Roger) perform in clips from old films of the DSOTM concert plus see him 30 years later along with the elegantly spoken and awesomely gifted guitarist Dave Gilmore, keyboard guru Richard and thunder drummer Nick bandmates discussing their roles in the music creative process that transformed heavy-metal rock and roll into futuristic, crank it up to the max, even heavier-metal rock and roll with a sound signature like no other band then or since. Weird, Wild, Wonderful. Any number of us PF maniacs can probably recall those outrageous tailgate parties that hammered us into a glorious haze before the concert. Afterwards, with ears ringing like gongs, we partied on and paraded around in Pink Floyd primo concert T- shirts with the tour dates listed on the back while listening to the latest PF release being blasted out of dozens of boom boxes as the night turned into dawn. Those are the kinds of vibes that this DVD stirs up and I can tell you I loved every single minute of it. A MUST have for your Pink Floyd ultimate collection. It's spankin'! Review: The best in the Classic Album DVD Series - I have watched several of the Classic Album DVD's, including Steely Dan/Aja (which is excellent, and probably my favorite band/album), The Who/Who's Next (which is OK), and Cream/Disraeli Gears (which even though I'm a big fan, was not that great). Anyway, this one, Pink Floyd/Dark Side of the Moon is by far the best. It just grabbed me and had me mesmerized from start to finish. The scenes with David Gilmour playing solo electric and pedal steel versions of Breathe, and Us and Them are so amazing, I can't even find the right words to describe it. Gilmour is hands down the best guitar player in the classic rock genre. I was also impressed with the solo piano playing of Rick Wright as he talked about coming up with some of the chord changes and turnarounds in Breathe and Us and Them. But, I think what really blew me away the most was the thoughtful and interesting perspective that Roger Waters puts on the whole project throughout the documentary. Watching this DVD has convinced me that it is definitely no accident that this album spent something like 741 consecutive weeks on the Billboard charts. Just remember, "there is no dark side of the moon, really, matter of fact it's all dark...." Grab this one, you won't be disappointed.

So lovely to remember this creation
It's glorious to watch this and remember so many times that I saw the Pink Floyd in England originally before this album appeared. I am watching it just fine in the USA because I've always used a DVD player that plays DVD's from every country - this is a great documentation of the Pink Floyd working to create the music originally! If you are in the USA and get a PAL DVD that doesn't play for you, then you can probably watch it easily on a PC via the public VLC media player app.

Great DVD, wonderful to see and hear all four Floyds!
Man this DVD is a fantastic thing for any fan of Pink Floyd. I was especially glad to see Richard Wright here. He was always the quiet one in the background. In my opinion his contributions to the band were enormous. He got pushed out of the band by Roger Waters, who had become quite a tyrant. But all these years later it was great to hear Roger speak fondly of Rick - and even of David Gilmour, for that matter. I wonder if the four Floyds each watched this DVD and maybe wondered...maybe a reunion might not be so impossible after all! Please! Before it's too late! ( Update: well the lads DID reunite after all, playing four songs together at Live 8. Thank you!!!) This DVD is definitely worth buying. It may be the closest thing to a Pink Floyd reunion we'll ever get. But I hope the positive vibe created by this DVD will get them back on stage again - with Roger this time! And just the four of them, none of this "army of session musicians" up there with them. Anyone at all optimistic about this? (Again: they went and did it, against all odds. So thanks to Roger, David, Rick and Nick for giving us all the next best thing to a Beatles reunion, the coming together of Pink Floyd.)

Awesome! Everyone says Led Zep wrote heady lyrics and music (which they did) but PF wrote and performed some of the best music of all time. In my opinion, this is their best album. Other PF purists will agree and disagree. This is a "must have" for every fan on PF, and for those who don't really listen to PF. Watch this DVD and I guarantee you, there is a lot more to PF than their song "money". Play it loud!
