The Advent of Christ: Scripture Reflections to Prepare for Christmas

This book is so well written, linking old testament prophesy with its fulfillment in Jesus's birth. I have always struggled reading the old testament, but now I see it in a whole new way. There are reflections on the Blessed Mother, Joseph her spouse, Elizabeth and John the Baptist. I explored the Sacred Story of the birth of Christ in a whole new way. Over the years, I have tried many advent meditations, but never one as easy to read as this one. I really looked forward to it. The daily readings are short but profound with questions that kept me thinking the rest of the day. So many books are either too elementary or too complex, but I really think people across the spectrum will enjoy this book. I enjoyed it so much, I bought a dozen of them and sent them to every member of my family. I have searched for a book like this and looked at many. I know I will read it again and again. On January 1st, I am already looking forward to next advent!

A great book to prepare for and during advent, or any time for that matter. The author has done his research and brings out many overlooked tidbits. I cannot recommend it more highly.

A wonderful way to end each day of the Advent season. Sri incorporates a Bible verse, a short teaching about the reading, and a reflection. I'm glad that he included the days after Christmas,ending with the Feast of the Epiphany.

The perfect book for this time of the year, as we give thanks for Thanksgiving what could be more appropriate than remembering what we're most thankful for the birth of Christ the savior of the world.

Exceptional little book. I understand the advent season and my faith better for following the readings and commentary in Mr.Sri’s book. Have purchased another of his books and revisited another that I had already read.

Dr. Edward Sri really captures the season of Advent by exploring the Gospel of Matthew. Drawing from the Old Testament and incorporating how Christ came to fulfill the OT's covenants, really gives the picture of how much Christ was (and still is) needed for everyone.

Have only known of Edward Sri via "women of grace" episodes and Dr. Sri has become one of my favourite authors.
