3rd update: 14 months after purchase. I had an accident with this scooter and the throttle broke. I contacted the manufacturer to see if I could get a replacement and they offered to send me both the throttle and the broke. Phone holder, free of charge. Great customer service! 2nd update 4 months after purchase: I have to revise my review of this company once again. They are TOP in customer satisfaction, response, problem solving and inquiries. The scooter rides great, looks great and has a long battery life. Maybe in future they will reconsider the closure hook and use a better design there. They seem to be really focussed on their product and their customers so I believe they will continue improving over time. UPDATE: The company "HiBoy" has been very open and eager to resolve our issues (below) and very supportive. For that reason I am happy to change my overall rating to 4 Stars (****) increased from 3. This is a lovely scooter. Stylish, easy to use, solid tires (no flats!), disk brake, great lights, fast. However there are two extremely important design drawbacks: UPDATE: Point 1 below is more of a dumb design but Point 2 below remains an important drawback. 1. The body of the scooter does not have any place where a lock can be passed through to securely lock the scooter outside if necessary. UPDATE: After some research apparently it is possible to lock the scooter around the body just behind the front wheel (on the angled part). Provided that the lock is tight enough to the body that the scooter body or stem/headset can't be passed through the lock and removed, it is pretty secure. We have not tried this yet. and….relating to the above and to the idea that there is no way to lock it up outside…. 2. When we fold the scooter and clip the top to the rear fender, the “clip” in fact is an open hook which catches a spring action loop built into the rear fender. As long as you keep tension on that hook (ie by holding the scooter from that portion), the loop stays in the hook. As soon as the stem of the scooter relaxes toward the body, the hook falls out of the loop and the scooter opens up (“flops” open). Given that the scooter is about 30lbs, it is reasonable that a normal person would occasionally “rest” the folded scooter while carrying it. But if s/he does, the scooter will awkwardly fall open and potentially cause damage or physical injury. So where we ourselves really wanted to have a scooter that folded up for ease of transportation, it’s not well designed for that at all. I anticipate our finding another way of securing the fold, perhaps by installing a rock-climbing clip somehow, so that the stem can be held securely attached to the body when folded. UPDATE: We did find a way to secure the fold. Our "solution" is not very functional and it's ugly as well. We are going to try locking as updated in Point 1 above, which will hopefully solve the problem.

Overview: I really love this scooter, like genuinely. I love it so much that I bought a second one after my first S2 was stolen. I have bought 3 scooters through Hiboy, the first being my NEX scooter which was a discontinued model, so when I damaged that one (my fault 100%) I decided to move to another great Hiboy scooter, the S2. I did this because I had wonderful experiences with their kind, clear and attentive customer service representatives (via email), so I wanted to stay with the company for sure. For this reason and quality of product, I think Hiboy is the best of the up and coming eScooter companies. Anyway, this is a stellar scooter. It's not extremely pricey like the Segway Ninebots or as cheap and slow as other brands like Gotrax and Hover. In fact, having used the various rentable Bird and Lime scooters a lot before this purchase I think I like the feel of the S2 more. So it's an affordable elevated quality scooter. I attached a pretty detailed video of a general overview of the scooter, and what I like, so definitely watch that. (In the video I referenced putting up a 2nd video to show how it folded and unfolded, but turns out I can't upload 2 videos. Just know that folding and unfolding is totally easy. I said it is tight, and it is, but I'd rather the folding mechanism be a little tight as it is on mine, than loose). Also, another broad overview aside I didn't mention in the video is that I like that for the charger, there’s a little light that goes from red to green when it's charged, so you don't overcharge it. If you have issues: When you open the manual it details the quick start info (how to put it together which consists of a few screws and an electric plug in) and in big letters it says if you have any problems please contact the company. Definitely do, like I said they have great customer service and are very willing to send you parts and even videos with how to replace parts/adjust the scooter (at least they did with my NEX scooter, can't imagine that has changed). My type of use: My commute is only about 2 flat miles round trip most days of the week, so I cannot speak to long distance commutes and how it would hold up. But as I said in my video it definitely reaches 18-19 mph, so if that's accurate to advertisement I see no reason why the distance it can reach isn’t close. In fact, since I bought it, I haven't had to charge it yet from the initial charge (have not used it that constantly though to be honest!). It has a nice bit of oomf from stop and doesn't really need any kicking to get it going (again I'm on flat roads). It's perfect if you're a college student on a big campus, live off campus (my use), or other urban & local roads commutes. Its size and speed makes it perfect for getting to places that aren't exactly around the corner, so you need to use a bit of road to get where you're going. Some of this review is merging my experience with my old S2 and this brand new one which I mentioned in my video seems to be an upgraded model. Regardless, I loved both. So yeah. The Hiboy S2. Update. Hiboy reached out to me to provide a revised design scooter to address the issue I had changing the inner tube on the rear wheel. The below comments refer to the previous model without the split hub design. I was really impressed, I did not reach out to Hiboy or expect/ask them to do anything. They clearly monitor these reviews and we proactive. Very impressive. I have also purchased a solid wheel scooter for my son. Revising this review to give them their well earned credit for going above and beyond. I have had this scooter for about a year. Its fast, smooth, and has great range. I would have rated it 5 stars, BUT, I got a flat on the rear tire. The motor is in the rear wheel, so to take it off, you have to strip/disconnect 4-5 wires. Once I had the wheel off, removing the tire was not possible without damaging the wheel. I have a pretty good selection of tools at home, but I didn't see a way to do it effectively. I brought it to a bike shop and they refused to do it. I ended up having to find a scooter store (gas scooters) and they did it, but it took an hour and made it clear they didn't want to do it again. I assume their must be an electric scooter repair place somewhere, but I couldn't find one near me in Rhode Island. Unless you are really handy, or a mechanic, its unlikely you will be able to perform this repair yourself. Make sure you know there is a location to have it serviced that is convenient if you are not super confident you can fix it yourself. I noticed that most of the new models have solid tires and I assume its because of this. Its back up and running now, but I am keeping my fingers crossed I don't get another flat. Outside of the flat tire issue its a great scooter. I use it to run errands around town and to go to a pool club about a mile away instead of taking my car. I really enjoy it and its very stable. I am a grown up, but I still longboard and bike ride all the time. Trust me 19 MPH is faster than you think it is. I would recommend a helmet, especially if you are not regularly doing activities that require good balance.

The scooter is pretty good. Sturdy, fast (as it can reach the described speed) and I mean. It’s just really good. Why I’m giving it 4 stars? Simply because the battery runs a little bit fast. Turns out the battery lasts enough to reach the maximum distance described on the product description as long as you drive it 12mph or under which is not that fast and it’s like a fine print of the product. Otherwise the battery will last for 6 or 7 miles of total driving at its maximum speed. On the other hand, it can take you everywhere. I’ve drove this thing to work and without any issue. I work 11 miles away from home so we are not talking about rookie numbers, the cruise control mode it’s a superb nice feature and can help you saving battery and enjoying the ride. Be careful with this, the solid tires can be a plus and also a con, because every small bump or hole on the road it’s gonna feel like a punch on your hands and a modest hole can take you down since the wheels can’t absorb those hits. On the other hand you don’t have to worry about flat tires at all. Overall, I would say if it meets your expectations, just buy it. It’s worth the money.

I had an electric skateboard but after the motor started dying I realized that i didn't have brakes when the motor was not working . So , I decided to buy an electric scooter and I bought the highboy S2 . I think that it's the most complete and best quality in this price range . It has a mechanicical disc brake so whatever happens I can stop . A loud bell so pedestrians can hear me when they don't pay attention . It has pretty good light at the front and brake light at the back and most importantly intense red lighting in either side of the deck that lights up the street so much that they can see me from very far (video) . I am 6'2" 190 lbs and I always have min 25 lbs backpack and I can easily see 19 mph with good acceleration and I can do 15 mi range . The double suspension works also very good with my weight . I love the fact that I can never have a flat tire and the diameter of the wheel is enough to go over some bumps or little pad holes with ease . Very easy to fold and unfold cause I always put in my car . Worth mentioning is their app that you can adjust breaking , acceleration , cruise control and a lot of other things . An important detail is that the port that you charge it is at the I upper part of the steering wheel , not low by the deck like other scooters so when it rains there is no problem with the water . The reason that I picked this over other scooters is the big company behind it and I was right because in the beginning I needed a different part and the customer service was amazing . They were responding in less than 24 hours in my emails and I felt that they care about their client's needs and satisfaction and they totally back up their products . The last thing is that I can find any kind of part in their site in very reasonable prices . I'm very happy with my choice and I highly recommend this scooter

[UPDATE: May -April 2024 It has almost been a year since I have been with Hiboy and I have got to say that the scooter has definitely served as a staple within my life. I don’t have a car so this is my main means of transportation. I want to mention that despite pieces becoming damaged or questionable faulty issues within a particular piece, Hiboy has not let me down as far as replacements. Of course, with video/photo evidence, they want to see what the issue is. Upon understanding of issue, they have sent me any and all pieces needed to remedy the situation. A big help has been them sending me inner tubes for my flats and even a tire once the tread had wore down. I’ve also received a stem, some side covers, a fender, etc. anything the scooter may lack is covered by the company in responsiveness and willingness to assist in the remedy of said problems. I’m about 200lbs and bags usually weigh between 10-30 lbs. scooter still gets me up hills and zips me across my areas streets. Definitely will move faster the lighter you are so lose some weight buddy. Also , I have never had an issue with the head lights. That’s pretty cool. (April 9, 2024) ] May 26 , 2023- q we Upon opening the box for this product, I was met with a fairly simple set up. Everything comes pretty much put together, and the handlebar is the only part that needs to be attached (6 screws completed with Allen key that is provided). The wiring that must be manually connected in the neck was a bit sketchy as I had to “find” a way to get it all to fit while securing the neck closed. Didn’t want to squeeze or rupture anything. GOOD: The scooters riding capability is great. It catches speed pretty quickly and has zero-start capabilities. Just for comparison purposes, I’m about 183 lbs, and 5’8.5 ft. The scooter has me feeling as if I weigh less the way it zips me around. I’ve also went small grocery shopping and also carry a backpack with items often and it has no problem handling the extra load. Mind you, hill performance will be slightly affected depending on weight. It climbs hills at a solid speed , about 11-14 mph and even greater depending on hill size. I’ve got some pretty steep hills in my area just for reference. The scooter is pretty solid in frame. It has a wide platform for great standing stability and the rubber grip is very helpful. The motor compartment sits pretty low so watch for speed bumps. I walked over a few speed bumps first to get a reference for which speed bumps to go over and which to stop for. It’s pretty heavy to carry for long distances. I ride to my location and fold it up and place it on a bus or train or under shopping carts in stores. I do it outside so no one says anything. I’ve caught speeds of about 25 mph going downhill and felt pretty stable and safe. You do fee bumps and cracks though so be weary. Hold bars lightly yet firmly. All in all, it’s a great All-around scooter, whether you’re commuting or just out for a joyride. NOT SO GOOD: Unfortunately I have to return mine. A day after receiving my scooter, I noticed my scooter starting to stall and make aggressive jerking and grinding sounds. This would happen when going from zero to start, when slowing down via letting go of throttle and then pressing throttle again to speed up, breaking, and then throttling after breaking. It has glitched while trying to cross roads and that had worried me a bit. Mind you, I’ve never dropped my scooter or pushed it past any limit imposed. I rode to a park one day and when I went to leave my scooters MPH section said I was going 23 mph and I was simply walking the scooter. It started glitching more before giving me the E7 error code. It’s only been under 2 weeks and I’m receiving error codes. Unfortunately I can’t ride it anymore and am sending it back. Customer service is so/so. They asked for photos to see if it was a problem I could fix myself. It’s a motor issue which I cannot do myself so they’ve asked if I wanted a replacement. No word back from them yet but I am hoping that they follow through. ( THEY FOLLOWED THROUGH. SENT A NEW SCOOTER TO ME ONCE I SENT THE FAULTY ONE BACK TO THEM) I hope that my incident was a rare one and isolated. Would not want other riders’ scooters giving out in front of passing cars or on busy road ways. That poses a definite danger. Will update later on results👍🏽 (UPDATE - they sent me a new scooter to replace the one with the E7 issue. Have been riding that one ever since. Take care of your scooter and it will take care of you )

Very pleased with this scooter. Very little assembly required. I’m 5’7”, 170 lbs. My height to handlebars is perfect and would be great for taller or shorter individuals. I wear a size 9 shoe. The deck is a safe, comfortable width for me. Acceleration is quick, both in zero start and push start. Impressed with the lighting on the scooter (headlamp, tail lamp, undercarriage). Light weight. 32 lbs. No struggle carrying up steps. Fits well between seats on Philadelphia commuter trains and on busses and subways. HiBoy App is user friendly. Via Bluetooth, one can adjust the start and max speeds, the lighting intensity, and can turn on and off features. I may consider getting the seat because it’s so easy to maintain balance. Scooter claims top speed is 19 but I was clocked by radar @ 22 mph on flat surface two different occasions. My only complaint is the scooter can be a rough ride on sidewalks or cracked/broken/patched asphalt. The shocks do absorb some of the vibration. I did opt for the hard tires, my last e-bike got 4 flat tires in the last year. Did not want to be in that position again. I use this scooter as transportation to the train station to and from work daily, a way to get around the city on my lunch breaks, and running short distance errands. The scooter came with a 70% charge and I was able to get 12 miles from the factory charge. I do have some hills to climb which are greater than15 degrees so that naturally consumes more battery life. Great power moving up inclines. If I could change anything I’d want twist throttle and I’d prefer the disk brake on the same side as the electric brake. Just my opion. I’m sure the engineers thought this through. I would recommend this scooter to entry to mid level riders. I'm extremely happy with this purchase and will recommend it to others. I will post updates monthly. HiBoy brand also come with support. Hopefully I never need it. Scooter came with setup directions, user manual, and all Allen wrenches needed for adjustments. Folds well, looks great. Ride quality is pretty bumpy, so I have to be laser focused on avoiding any bumps. Headlight is weak, not enough for the night. It still gets 4 stars because it's a cheap (if you got it on sale) way for me to travel fast in the city, which I don't do super often. I just need to be very careful.
