I've been purchasing Taiyo Yuden media for over 10 years now. I have yet to burn a coaster (a disc that would not burn). While this is my first Blu-Ray discs from T.Y., I have burned around 10 with no problems and have no reason to expect any. EXCELLENT MEDIA.

Been a Verbatim guy for years. I've had a bad experience with Verbatim BD/DL-RE's. I decided to try Taiyo Yuden discs as I know they have a good reputation for quality media. I know R's and RE's are different but I gotta say I'm loving these discs. I get 10x from these off my old Pioneer BDR-205! Considering these are rated for 4x I couldn't be happier!I usually go back and fourth between ImgBurn (2.5.8.0) and Nero Burning ROM (10). I'm not sure if this was a media defect but I burned an ISO with ImgBurn and it errored out saying write problem so I burned the same ISO with Nero on another disc and it worked. It's really hard to tell if it was my drive or the media. So far I've gotten 3 coasters but I'm still giving 5 stars because several other discs burned just fine and very fast.I got the 30 pack but now I'm thinking I should have just gone with the 50 pack.

These discs are reliable as Verbatim are, but for archival integrity, it is better to write at lower speed. External USB drives with that kind of power can do 2X speed, such as the slim DigiStor and LG models. A Buffalo drive, requiring household current and connected to USB to operate, the slowest it can write is 4X. I use Roxio Toast Titanium software on Max OS X. Does a fine job, but an occasional fairure is likely drive or data corruption issue, not the disc. I recommend this brand, even though the Verbstim brand is a little more scratch resistant. Five stars, either way. Most new drives will write both layers, the inner to outer then the other layer outer to inner. If your project is full 50,050,000,000 bytes (very closely rounded), the drive spins at a slower, quieter RPM at midpoint, as the beginning and finalizing stages are faster, thus you can hear the drive easily even ten feet from the drive.

I get 8X speed on these discs with the latest firmware. Absolutely wonderful. I burned a 50GB movie in 15 minutes or so.

Excellent top quality Blu Ray discs. Chances are they will also burn faster than 4x if you have an up-to-date burner.
