Everything I was looking for
- Multiple fan speed options ranging from almost indescribably quiet to industrial fan (noticeably loud from adjacent rooms) for cusomizable range/sound level. I settled on 2/4 and it's more quiet than a fan we leave on low for white noise at night (IE, we still had to use the fan for white noise).- Simple design means it's easy to clean/fill. It's literally just a bucket with two filter walls placed around a high efficiency (very quiet for its output) fan, which is suspended from the lid. Filling the unit is as easy as lifting off the lid (which is held in place, but otherwise just rests on top of the tank), and filling the lightweight tank in a bathtub (weighs no more than a mop bucket before and after filling) or simply pouring in pitchers of water.- The unit holds a large amount of water (it actually takes quite a while to fill from empty, even in the bathtub), and it distributes that water into the air at a pretty alarming rate as well (I found myself added 2-3 pitchers of water 1-2 times a day to keep up, but that means it was doing its job!- This unit uses evaporative cool-air, and does a great job, as even on setting 2/4 it's putting up 2-3 gallons of water a day. It does so with no visible mist, moisture accumulation around the unit, or any of the risks of other types of units, such as mineral dust (filters handle that quite well), melting or fire risk, and cleaning is very simple since the unit is just a bucket with a fun suspended from a lid.- The humidistat and auto on/off feature is a little overstated, as the humidistat seems to have a limited range and consist of nothing more than LED bars, so you have little to no context for decision there, but it can at least serve as a good reminder to check the tank and refill at least. That being my only complaint, I simply leave it running on a good setting for the sound level and have been perfectly satisfied with this unit, especially for the price, compared to other much smaller or much more expensive units. It's a beautifully simple design that works VERY well. Bless the engineer(s) who conceived this design!

This is what you should buy.
I own three of these. I have used them for several years. They work in a small apartment or townhome. They are not a whole house unit. But this is what you need to humidify your house. A simple container that holds water and a fan that draws the moisture into your room air. Don't buy the little electronic mist ones as they just leave dust particles all over your furniture. This is not for when you get sick. This is to prevent you from getting sick. The fan is noisy on the higher speeds. But in a small area you can use the second speed which is very quiet and it works well. You will have to raise the humidity level above what you want as it's not all that accurate. Make sure to buy a separate humidity monitor to gauge the real humidity in your home. Be sure to buy some extra filters and a bottle of bacteriostat. Although you can clean the filters by soaking them in white vinegar. This is a great product from a great company at a great price.

Disappointment with this particular purchase.
I have three of this particular AIRCARE humidifier as well as two other AIRCARE larger humidifiers in my home. This particular purchase was a gift for my sons home. I gave it to him 2 days after I received it on June 19th. He thinks it works great. However yesterday he sent me a picture of the filters. After 45 days, they were brown, disgusting, smelled horrendous and he had to throw them out. We have the same water utility so I'm confused and very disappointed because mine have lasted 3 months or more before I had to replace them and not once have they turned brown.

Excellent price for an efficient unit
We have owned two for several years now. They have held up well. Some customers complain about the noise level. The upper fan levels are noisy, but we just start the unit up on high and put up with the noise for a little while then switch the fan down lower to maintain the humidity, which is an adjustable, automatic setting to your preference. They don't take up much space at all.

That need to be improved
This is simple humidifier, simple to assembly and operate. What I can say...well it work....Who ever design that humidifier need to improve it ....a lot.1. What going on with the super bright BLUE LED digital display. You can read newspaper in you bedroom with out light on. Forget about sleeping. They could not put just read dim display.2. The input and output airflow is too close, so it tend to draw back the humid air. So the efficiency is pretty bad. The spec for this device saying that it can cover up to 1200 square ft. I have less than 600 and it could not crack 20% humidity at full speed. It Have to be told that it is January and outside is around 20F, and inside my New York apartment is around 75F.Well I did some design improvements to air flow and display brightness, see the picture....what you can do with yellow envelop and Scotch tape.

Humidifies well! My air is wet!!!
Keeps our whole apartment properly humid. A few months in and no real issues. Only complaints are 1) the humidity and fan settings reset if the power surges even a little bit, so it'll often be off for days before we notice (default humidity is 25%), even when clocks on other appliances etc. don't get reset, and 2) the light for the display is very bright and always on, but we covered it with a tinfoil flap so this isn't really an issue.Other than that it rocks! Cranks out the humidity! Super noticable difference and very efficient and fast. Rarely have to refill it too. Great machine.

Does a very poor job of humidifying our rooms
Does a very poor job of humidifying our rooms, we have a standalone humidity monitor which shows almost no difference in humidity levels (1-2%).The onboard humitidy sensor is of little use because it sits directly on the unit.Speed 1 and 2 are ok, but 3 and 4 are just way too loud, and when doing tests it did no significant difference in increasing humidity levels. Not pleased at all with this unit.
