Star Wars: Age Of Resistance - Villains collects oneshots about villains Phasma, Hux, Kylo Ren and Snoke.A Good Read for any Star Wars Fan.

This is one of several collections of comic strips that focus upon individuals from the Star Wars universe. This collection is concerned with the ‘villains’ of the sequel movies. Produced prior to the theatrical release of ‘The Rise of Skywalker’, it offers stories about the four main antagonists of the first two films of that era.The main draw of this collection is that it includes entries for both Supreme Leader Snoke and Captain Phasma, two enigmatic and exciting characters that were sadly underutilised in the films. However, there is no huge character development or gripping revelations concerning their backgrounds or origins here. In fact, there is little extra to be learnt about either of them. It could also be argued that neither are really the lead character in their own story.Snoke’s story is about an incident during his training of Kylo Ren and there is more to be learnt about the student than his master. This story is still certainly of interest though as it reveals more of the master and apprentice relationship between the two of them. ‘The Force Awakens’ and ‘The Last Jedi’ tended to focus upon the latter stages of this relationship, drawing towards its inevitable conclusion where the apprentice seeks to usurp the master. This collection, therefore, provides a rare insight into Kylo Ren’s training.Phasma’s story is not entirely different. It too is, perhaps, more about an ‘apprentice’. It comes from the perspective of a stormtrooper who looks up to Phasma with reverence, wishing to replicate her career path in the First Order. Phasma, using similarly harsh methods, seeks to instruct her on such a journey. It works in a nice contrast to the Snoke story with the differing outcomes for the two ‘apprentices’ and their ability to learn what their respective masters are attempting to make them understand.The other two stories spotlight the two squabbling brats of the First Order. Hux’s strip does provide some insightful background into the development and motivations of the character. It almost arouses some pity for the quite unlikeable general. Most of the content is shared with Kylo Ren. Having the two of them cut off alone together allows for a bit of an expansion on their collaborative but competitive relationship. It highlights the similarity they possess in having issues with their fathers and, as a result, seeking the adulation and confirmation of their surrogate father, Snoke, who they ultimately want to overthrow.Kylo Ren, therefore, features quite heavily across the collection. His own story concentrates on another of his ‘relationships’. This is not only a story of how he venerates and wishes to emulate the success of his grandfather, but also of his need to surpass his ‘hero’. It is a worthwhile story that explores Ren’s motivations and allows for some action from Vader.Each strip ends with a small profile on its respective character which fills in what is so far known about them from the films and other media. There is also a selection of artwork at the end.

No está mal para dar un poco más de historia a personajes de las secuelas. No obstante me gusto mas el cómic de villanos de la era de la imperial. Aún así se disfruta y entretiene. Lectura rápida.

The final volume in this series of shorts from each of the Star Wars eras. We know very little about these villains, so it's fun to finally get stories about them.The first story shows Captain Phasma being ruthless. I enjoyed this comic so much more than the whole volume dedicated on her. This story really gets into Phasma's mind, showing her perspective on the troops that she leads. This is my favorite Phasma story so far, but I have yet to read Delilah S. Dawson's book. 5/5General Hux is stranded on a planet with Kylo Ren. Hix manipulates the situation. This short comic story gave Hux way more character depth than both of the movies he's been in. 5/5The story focusing on Supreme Leader Snoke shows him training Kylo Ren on Dagobah. There's also a fun twist ending. I'm interested to go back and read this after The Rise of Skywalker comes out. 5/5Kylo Ren's story is my least favorite in this volume, but I still give it a 4/5. In this story he compares himself to Vader.Overall, I was very impressed with this volume. I didn't expect to enjoy a collection of villain's stories. Since most of these characters have had very little on-screen development, these stories got to give them a little more depth. This was my highest rated of these collections. 5/5

Nachdem ich mir "Star Wars: The Rise Of Kylo Ren (Star Wars: The Rise Of Kylo Ren (2019-2020)) (English Edition)" gegönnt habe, hat mich auch dieses Comic sehr gereizt.Wie auch bei dem "Star Wars: Age Of Resistance - Heroes (Star Wars: Age Of Resistance (2019)) (English Edition)" Bundle sind auch hier die Geschichten recht kurzatmig - jedoch hier wesentlich interessanter, als jene von "Heroes".Die 4 großen Kapitel bzw. die Backgroundinfos zu Captain Phasma, General Hux, Supreme Leader Snoke (& Kylo Ren) und Kylo Ren waren durchaus witzig und auch etwas aufschlussreich. Hat eher meinen Erwartungen entsprochen, als die "Heroes" Reihe.Hierzu, und vor allem auch zu Snoke, erwarte ich noch viiiiiiel mehr Infos und Enthüllungen zu erfahren. Diese waren doch etwas dürftig und werfen eher weitere Fragen auf, als dass sie viele grundlegende Fragen beantworten. Ich würde das Comic unter "Teaser" für kommende Bücher verstehen.Der Teaser kam, zumindest bei mir, mal SEHR GUT an und ich freue mich schon auf ausführlichere Abenteuer und Geschichten zu den 4 Charakteren, die wir aus den Sequels kennen. Vor allem sind die Geheimnisse zu Supreme Leader Snoke die wohl größten und interessantesten, die sich nach wie vor im Star Wars Nebel aufhalten. Dieser Comic ließ zumindest 1-2 Mal Licht durch diesen Nebel.
