Monroe Quick-Strut 171572L Suspension Strut and Coil Spring Assembly for Dodge Grand Caravan

Kudos- to Amazon and their sellers. Monroe struts are considered the premium standard for automotive chassis repair (my opinion, and many others too). These simply are great parts and WELL BELOW (nearly 50%) local auto stores prices. They were complete ready to install and came with most new hardware, leaving only a few bolts that had to be re-used. You can find cheaper parts but the ones listed with this review- are amongst the industries best and coming through an Amazon seller, just a great value. Also, if you are a DIY type of person, this is a realistic project that can be completed by someone with average mechanical skill in a reasonable amount of time. I am highly mechanical (also a perfection nut on stuff like this), and spent about 3 hours doing both sides and a couple other chassis components. Just remember the vehicle should be re-aligned immediately following installation.Good Luck!!!!

I installed these strut assemblies as OE replacements/upgrades on a 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan with 135,000 miles. Very easy to install. Great ride improvement. I also installed new rear shocks at the same time for a total ride upgrade. Once I had van supported and wheels off, installation took about 30 minutes per side. Install strut brackets on spindles in same location as OE's that you remove. I marked location by spraying white paint on bracket and spindle before removal. Front end alignment was nearly perfect when checked after install. Great fit and quality product.

First time I bought these was for a beater Mazda Protege that just needed to get down the road. I remembered how easy they were to install so decided they were the right choice to my 150k T&C that had bad bump stops and bushings. Installation was pretty simple. Hardest and slowest part of the process was the sway bar link as others have commented. Make sure you have a full line of metric wrenches on hand! Getting the three bolts to line up in the strut towers was tricky and definitely required an assistant. I was able to get close enough on the alignment where there was no detectable change in handling. Will have to watch tire wear closely but for now I think I nailed it. Used a scribe on the knuckle and a beam level to check camber.Overall ride improved dramatically over the worn out probably original struts. Suspension is still a little softer than I would like, but it is a mini-van after all. I should note too, that my main reason for replacing these was to get rid of an annoying clunk I get at low speeds on bumpy roads. I thought for sure it was the upper bearings in the strut assembly but it was not. Sway bar bushings turned out to be the source.

replaced out originals on my 2002 dodge mini van with 150.000 mi. van always had a nice soft ride with good handling. I did not want a drastic ride comfort change. my mechanic suggested to go with Monroes quick struts instead of replacing just the struts. im glad I went with the quick struts. I had no drastic change in ride. but my handling improved dramaticaly.No body rolls in the corners , its nice and firm. great highway ride,nice and smooth.got the quick struts 171572r and1715721l from amazon, for $100.00 a peice. advanced auto part wanted $204.00 a peice. what a great price from amazon. I did not even know amazon sold car and truck parts. my mechanic had no problem with installation. I did order ak71 Monroes strut accessory kit which my mechanic did use. last year I did replace my rear shocks with original oem from the dealer. Now the van has that great new car ride!!!!

The fact I procured the Right and Left strut assembly for the Price of one at my local Oreilly, I am rebuilding the front suspension and Power steering system. So far Steering rack (with 2 outer tie rod ends) , new Moog sway bar bushings, Metrix Premium 2 PCS Front Stabilizer Bar Link K725. From my local Oreilly Lower Control Arms and Power Steering pump as I needed no shipping screwups. Oh and the Monroe Struts were just as I expected, the Right one a few days late.

Immediate noticeable improvement from junk brand I purchased from amazon a couple years ago.

Disappointed with these struts. I installed them on my caravan and the only lasted 3 years ~30,000 miles. Supposedly they have a lifetime warranty on them, but the only way to get them replaced is to take them back to the sop that installed them or contact your online retailer. I installed them myself so when I contacted Amazon about the matter they indicated that they do not handle warranty stuff like that. The Monroe hotline wouldn't even let me get past an automated message no matter how hard I tried so that was a big dead end. I gave up and just purchased another set. When the struts arrive one had a spring perch rubber pad that was damaged and the other had a defective strut insert that once installed made a clunking noise whenever I drove over a bump. Luckily I installed them myself and didn't have to take them to a shop. Amazon sent me replacements but I had to install them twice. Good thing I figured out they were defective before I paid to have an alignment done (I determined they were defective on the first test drive after installation). I cannot recommend these.

This is a very nice assembly and was super easy to install. I also replaced the sway bar link at the same time.

Terrible product ... if there is a 0 star rating i would rate it .... Monroe dump their scrap / defective products off the assembly line at amazon website .. my advise DON'T take the risk i took
