East to use; and Destructible-Resistant?!?!
As a Timekeeper/Announcer (TKA) for Destination Imagination tournaments, I grew tired of always having to use the site’s timers; and always having to learn how they worked. I do this often enough that I finally decided it’s time to get my own set!My first priority was something very easy to set, start, stop, and reset… nothing that required an engineering degree or computer programming certificate in order to operate. The Uigos 2-Timer set fits that need beautifully.Next, I needed something that I could attach to my clipboard to be able to keep at least one hand free (I can’t talk in front of an audience without one!). These units’ flip down stand allows it to hang perfectly on the clip of my board. If I adjust it just right, the magnet adds a bit more stability. The magnet, however, is not too bad, but not as strong as I wish it was… Which leads me to my next unexpected reason for loving this timer!I usually work in some sort of costume, and or with props just to set the atmosphere. This year required me attaching my clipboard to the back of an artists paint palette. I wasn’t quite as used to this set up as I thought I should beOn multiple occasions (11 to be exact) While speaking to teams before their performance, I would flick my wrist to check my watch. Unfortunately, that was the wrist connected to the hand, which was connected to the pallet. If you take a look at my pictures, you’ll quickly understand the unfortunate resultant mechanics of such a maneuver .This action sent my timer flying across the prep area, and crashing onto the hard linoleum floor of the school hallways we were in. Each time the unit unit broke into three parts: the main unit, the battery, and the battery cover. In each case, the only thing damaged was my ego. I spoke to each of my 9 teams, and this occurred, I was able to quickly reassemble the unit, and it worked just as well as the moment I had taken it out of the shipping box!(… That’s right, do the math – and you realize that at least two teams got a double-laugh off of me…)Typically, I don’t put such hardware through that strenuous a test. But with just to one use, it’s clear that I made the right decision purchasing these units! I highly recommend them.

Kind of a cool science experiment but not so good for the stove ...
I left the flame on the stove on while boiling eggs and forgot about it, and 30 minutes later I remembered and wouldn't you know it, the eggs exploded! Kind of a cool science experiment but not so good for the stove (egg shells all over the place), nor for the pot (black remnants of burned eggs and egg shells that I've been soaking and scrubbing and may not come out)! So I immediately went to Amazon to buy a timer. I was concerned because I wanted the absolute simplest timer and was thinking I would get the old-fashioned kind that you twist the dial and it's set. I did not want a complicated digital one that was going to take 30 minutes to figure out how to use; I have very low tolerance for complicated, non-intuitive devices, plus I was concerned that I would have to put on my reading glasses every time I wanted to set it. But I did not see anything that looked good and was inexpensive except the Sunbeam and the reviews were mixed. I was pleasantly surprised with the Uigos.1. The digits are very large and easy to see without glasses (like the top number on the chart at the eye doctor!).2. I did have to look at the directions to find out how to reset it to zero, but it took 5 seconds to find it in the directions and that was that (you push the 'minute' and 'second' button at the same time to reset to zero). Otherwise the timer is very intuitive and simple. You simply push the 'seconds' button to set it, and the 'minute' button to set that. And then push 'start' and it ticks down. If you want it to tick up, just push the start/stop button. I can't think of any way they could make it simpler. It does nothing else. Just what I wanted.3. I did just look at it and realize there is the word 'clear' on it with lines to direct you to push the M and S simultaneously button to reset. Duh. I didn't need to look at the directions after all.4. The buttons are big and easy for thick fingers.5. The alarm has two settings. One is low and I keep it at my desk when it's running so I can hear it, and the loud setting is very loud and I can hear it when I leave it in the kitchen and I am at my desk in another room, about 20 feet away, even with the radio and air-conditioner on. It's a digital beeping sound, and it goes on for a minute. And one easy push on the start/stop button to start and stop it.6. The magnets hold on the refrigerator nicely. There are three magnets.7. There's a stand that folds down easily.8. It kind of looks a little cool (in the eye of the beholder of course). Not the "museum of design" cool, but cool enough that it doesn't look like a cheap plastic device.9. Have a AAA battery ready. It does not come with one.10. It's $5.59. Enough said.

Good little timer. Using it for games night to replace a hour glass. The timer works great and very good as a games timer.
