when I think of his music
When I think of his music the song that first comes to me is " Think of Laura " because of the story behind it. Laura Carter was the roommate and sorority sister of a Denison University college student named Paige, that Christopher had met at one of his concerts. Cross went so far as to title the album after her (Another Page) and featured her on the inside liner for the album, where she was pictured sitting on a stool. Cross invited Paige to visit him on tour, and in the process of dating her, met Paige's roommate Laura Carter, so the song is quite literally his personal reaction to her tragic death.Laura was killled during homecoming weekend at the college, when she was struck by a stray bullet in the city of Columbus, Ohio, when a bullet fired over a block away during an altercation between 4 men, struck her as she was sitting in the backseat. At the time she was sitting in the back of a car, being driven by her parents, who were visiting her for homecoming, and had taken her and two of her lacrosse team teammates to dinner following a game she had just played in.The tragic story of what had happened to this young woman deeply affected everyone on campus at the college, and of course the incident was devastating to Paige. Cross wrote the song as a way of comforting Paige and honoring Laura's memory. The song was not a hit until many months after the "Another Page" album was releasted, and it was featured in the Soap Opera General Hospital in support of it's popular "Luke and Laura" storyline. Fans of General Hospital began requesting the song, and it eventually became a Top 40 radio hit.His music has meaning for me and many others for many different reasons...

Smooth sounds of the '70s
If you want to hear some smooth, soft tunes from back in the '70s, you can't do much better than this collection. I was a kid back then, but I can still remember hearing these songs on the radio all the time. Now, all these decades later, they still bring back memories and a fond nostalgia for the era. Plus they're just darn good songs.

Perfection compiled from his first 25 years!!!
The year was 1979 and punk and disco took over from overwrought progressive rock that I happened to be into. Then this artist came along and only made things worse for me. It was time for me to give up dreams of being in the music business and finally buckle down to get a BS in a degree that required nothing else to make a bundle right after graduation. Smart move!!!In a nutshell, I have always hated Christopher Cross up until now. Then in preparation for another upcoming vacation trip, I saw that he will be playing at a small intimate theater near where I will be staying. Hmmm!! After almost 40 years, why don't I have anything in my huge collection of more than 700 artists by this great songwriter? So I checked lots of songs from posted You Tube collections and chose this one from 2002 at a very low bargain price used. It just arrived today with no regrets at all!!! Not one single one of these 19 songs can be considered as filler. I now really think that I should score a ticket to that upcoming show in a small intimate theater. Better late than never!!!
