Its mostly small histories and discography's done the way Rolling Stone has always done stuff(Think their record reviews) about
When it comes to any book of this nature (A history book about a certain segment of the entertainment business) there's bound to be some omissions.I'm sure there will be reviews of this book that will dwell on that so I'm not going to.What I will say is that there is over 1100 pages in this book filled with rather small print about Rock and Roll.At least Rolling Stones version and interpretation anyways. Its mostly small histories and discography's done the way Rolling Stone has always done stuff(Think their record reviews) about an amazing amount of artist's.Are there omissions and inaccuracies?Sure there probably is.With such a rich and varied history how could there not be?Is it worth it?In my opinion and having read Rolling Stone for the last 44 years I would say yes. This is the kind of book that you can pick up and just turn to any page and if you love this form of music you can always find something interesting to read. Now the downside.I got it used and real cheap so I'm not going to complain about a couple of torn pages other than to say the pages are extremely thin and you wouldn't want your young kids or neglectful friends pawing through it.The main gripe I have thou is the font it's sort of small and when I'm tired sort of hard to see.All in all thou it's a fine book just look for a deal.A good reference tool

Great!
This is probably the best book of it's kind (rock encyclopedia). Gives a good bit of depth on a lot of artists and is easy to pick up and just read about an artist or two in just a few minutes. Would get 5 stars except my copy came out in the year 2000 I think, and is now in need of some updates

Very informative
My husband loves reading this book. It's his bathroom book. We purchased another one for a gift for another trivia friend's retirement gift.I had also bought the updated book for my husband.

Great Read, Great Reference Guide
For the money, this book really covers a lot of ground. I am a working DJ, and I use the information I found in this book every time I am behind a mic. No matter if it's to mention what city the band was formed in, to who the lead singer is this week, er month. It's handy, useful and very well written. Even if you are just a fan of Rock & Roll, you should own this book, you could almost consider this a history book of modern music.I found very few bands that are not included, (i.e. larger regional acts, etc.) Over all you can't go wrong.. buy this book now!!

Good reference book
The material is through, but only up to the year 20000.
