Silicone Spatulas & Basting Brush Set of 3 - Heat Resistant and with Hygienic Solid Coating by AddPassion

Let me start by saying that I like these and would buy them again. That being said they're not perfect...Back-story, the standard for comparison:I had received a beautiful red silicone spatula of unknown brand 3-4 years ago and absolutely loved it. It was smooth, the perfect shape/size for getting every bit of batter or whatever out of a bowl, impossibly easy to clean, and incredibly versatile (from stirring batter to cooking bacon). Sometime last year I read that silicone absorbs oils so I shouldn't use my everyday one on things like beaten egg whites and meringues because the residual oil in the spatula would mess with the stiffness of the egg whites/meringues. So I embarked on a search to find another spatula just like mine. Unfortunately, as they say, they don't make 'em like they used to. But I ended up buying this one and another brand back in January for comparison and testing. (I eventually wanted to give one as a gift, and I try to only give top quality gifts.)On to the review:I originally purchased this because of the nice color, the perfect shape, and the great price of $5.95 (thanks to a great product launch sale). After receiving it I discovered the drawbacks. (I then noticed that all the silicone spatulas of this shape have the same or very similar "flaws" so...) 1. The first thing I noticed was the rough finish, think new cast iron vs old cast iron but on a micro scale. Having only ever used my perfectly smooth spatula this was somewhat disappointing. (Though if you've never used one you might not really notice.) And this really only affects the looks. Maybe this is supposed to be the "non-slip texture"? But really this is just clever marketing to reduce costs; even polished silicone is "non-slip". The finish is kinda hard to show in a picture so here's another red spatula that shows it better. The "rough" one is on the right. It looks like that but blue. 2. Next was the flash. If you don't already know, flash is that bit of the material that sticks out usually in a line going all the way around the edges. It's excess material left over from the molding/casting process, and in a high quality product it would be removed. (See "flash (manufacturing)" on wiki for more info) 3. The rounded scraping edges. Though this probably doesn't affect functionality, again, I was used to my spatula with nice pointed edges. And if I'm going to own something and use it all the time I want it to be aesthetically pleasing. I wish companies still appreciated style. These three things are annoying but can be fairly easily remedied with sandpaper and several hours of spare time.Another thing I noticed was that the stainless steel core (does it matter that it's stainless if it's encased in silicone?) doesn't extend as far forward or backward as my original spatula and it's more bendy overall. However, this does not affect performance or usability; I just wanted buyers to be aware of this.Pros:-one piece silicone construction-easy to clean-great size and shape, nice sharp corner-beautiful colorCons: (remedied by sanding)-rough finish for silicone-unsightly flash-rounded edgesOverall, I would buy this again.

NEW REVIEW:What happen??? The first set was so great even came in a nice box. I've been waiting to order more because your always sold out on amazon. When they became available I ordered them but when they arrived they came in a flimsy clear bag. The quality is not the same you can see and feel the sealed part. And these dont even have your brand logo on them. They seem like a nockoff to the good brand. Extremely disappointed that I'm unable to return them. It said i could but when trying to return them, amazon says gas items and chemicals are unreturnable. Which this has neither..Old review: Awsome product !! It has a great grip so it won't slip out of your hand. And it's VERY STRONG AND STURDY! No worry about these braking. And VERY easy to clean! :-) I am so pleased with this product. I'm going to buy a set for my mom and dad!

Great! Sturdy and a good weight, not too heavy as to be cumbersome, but not too light as to feel cheap. The metal rod inside extends all the way up the handle (some stop short, leaving a floppy inch or two at the top). Washes up easily and has not stained so far. I haven't used the basting brush yet, but seems like it will do a good job, well, basting. Also, not that is matters as much, it is a beautiful and unique color! Most silicone seems to be an awful brick red.I did a lot of research before buying these, and I am completely satisfied with my choice.

I LOVE these spatulas, and I am never going back to the old school kind again! I'm going to purchase more and throw out all my old spatulas. I have rheumatoid arthritis in my wrists and cooking was a challenge for me - especially things like scrambled eggs. These spatulas not only make it much easier because of their ergonomic design, but they are much more efficient. They bend to get all the eggs scraped off the sides, unlike their rectangular/square old school counterparts. And I left it sitting on the edge of the pan and they don't burn or scar. These are great spatulas - I'm a convert!

I needed a couple of extra spatulas and was looking for a good price. I also like using a silicon basting brush because I feel it ends up being more sanitary and easier to clean then 'real brushes' and stands up in the long run better. These were a good price and I am really pleased with the quality. Some spatulas seem to 'hold' food at their edges these do not. They also wash well in the dishwasher because they are one piece and do not have a place for water collect or mold to grow like some other spatulas. I may get another set.

My previous favorite spatula broke when using it to stir some cookie dough that ended up being thicker than I expected. The handle on these seems very sturdy so I don't expect that to be a problem.I often use the larger spatula when making pancakes and find the flexibility of the end to be just right for scraping out the bowl. I haven't used the basting brush because I already have a couple that are very similar. I suppose that's a nice bonus though.My only request would be that they were offered in additional colors.

Love this set and getting it at the introduction price was awesome. I wanted a silicone spatula that could be used while cooking with no worries about melting or becoming disfigured. I use the larger spatula for that while the smaller one is pretty much for cleaning out those last bits of food in jars and cans. I haven't yet tried out the basting brush but I prefer the shorter bristles to one I already own. It will get a work out during grilling season!

I was looking for a basting brush and found this combo to be a good option. The brush and spatulas both have a stainless steel shank as a backbone. They work great and are easy to clean. Seem like they will last a long time.
