It's a nice compact size light stand that is good for low height applications and small to medium weight devices.It's quite sturdy for what it is, but still lightweight. Good quality black anodized aluminum tubing with fairly robust plastic hub for folding.It opens and Folds easily, and the riser column is quick and easy to adjust and lock in place.Just be forewarned that the locking knobs/screws are fairly cheap/lightweight plastic, so DO NOT over-tighten them.Just twist the the locking knobs just enough for them to secure the legs and/or riser column and it should last a long time and get the job done.Well worth the ~8 bucks I paid, especially with FREE Shipping!

For under fifteen shekels, the StudioPRO Mini Back Light Stand is a surprisingly well made light stand. Yes, it has more plastic than my Manfrotto stands--leg spider and lock fittings are plastic--but I wasn't expecting Euro quality on a BigMac budget. Nevertheless, the aluminum tubes feel sturdy and well finished. The folding base is compact enough to squeeze in tight spaces larger stands don't dare venture, yet is stable enough to support a 300-LED video light or 16 x 16" softbox. Obviously, the Mini is designed as a back light but also functions well as a fill light for sitting portraits and small products.Setup and teardown is fast: tubes operate smoothly and locks hold securely without muscling them. Plus, it's an easy carry and fits in a carry-on or daypack.I needed to use the 1/4"-20 screw topside for a cold shoe. Threads didn't fit. Wouldn't even start. It was always protected with a plastic cap and showed no apparent damage. I cleaned up the threads with a 1/4"-20 tap and now shoes, brackets and heads fit securely. However, the thread shavings revealed that this spigot is actually brass plated pot metal.While not a luxury model, the StudioPRO Mini is a cut above the el cheapo Chinese stands I've owned. I consider the defective threads a minor gotchas but docked it one star for my ten minutes of labor! All in all a good stand and deal but, most importantly, is a useful tool in my studio.

I thought I reviewed this previously, but I guess I didn't. I needed something to hold my ring light on a table as my larger stand was just too tall. I have an 18 inch ring light so it can be quite top heavy, but I position the legs of this stand so that it keeps it balanced and I haven't had any issues with toppling over. This thing is sturdy, I'm very impressed with how well it is made and how durable it is. I use it several times a week for hours on end and it doesn't have any issues. If you are looking for a small table top stand, I highly suggest this one as it is affordable and really holds up well. I'm impressed for sure. I do suggest that you not put it on a slippery surface. I place it on a table top that is not slippery and it stays, but on my table that is slightly slippery, it can slide. Otherwise, it works really well.

It has several features which put it ahead of the pack.First, it has a 24" footprint diameter, compared to most other backlight stands coming in around 18"If you are using a moonlight with a "shovel" or "scoop" as they are called by their respective manufacturers to direct the light at the background, you will most likely be pointing the moonlight straight up ... Which puts it's center of gravity as far from the centerline of the stand as possible. Making the aforementioned larger footprint important.Second, the plastic that the "spider casting" is made with is much thicker than other brands I have owned. As well as being thicker it seems more resilient, meaning less prone to crackingThird, larger diameter tubing than other brands I have previously ownedNow for the down side ...From the time I first bought it, it has gone up in price from the sub $10.00 to near $15.00 not a big thing until you look at it in a percentage context... It costs almost 50% more ...be careful you don't price yourself out of business

This is definitely an inexpensive solution for a short stand. I am doing table top studio work with studio lights. I had to put wrap around exercise weights on them to get stable.

These stands sure are handy to have. Great value. Quality is actually pretty good. Used them today in fact. Super happy I bought them. My only regret is not buying them sooner. They're small and easily portable on the fly.

I find that the Fovitec 32” is best used as a backlight stand. It’s sturdy enough, but it only breaks down to a few inches short of my Slik 7’ portable stand. The legs can stick making it more difficult to open and close, but it does offer a substantial, sturdy base. I may try silicone or another lubricant to get it moving faster. Overall though, it’s a good value for the money.

A little shorter than expected but not a dealbreaker. Sturdy and reliable.

[This is for the 30" model]. Pretty much exactly what I wanted. The only thing I'd be aware of is that you have very little range in how wide the legs spread out.
