Confusing
My surgeon recommended this book. It's hard to follow as the pages jump all over the place. I go from page 11 to 104 to 105 to 14. I have to jump 90 pages to find page 12. Not sure if anyone else had this with their book or if it's just mine.

Highly recommend!
I am 27 days post laparoscopic gastric bypass surgery. This happens to be my first "Dummie" book I have ever read. I wish I had been more prepared, and this book thrust into my hands. Read it in four days from cover to cover, though one can use it as a reference guide as well. As silly as it might sound, I feel like I've just parted with a good friend.A few reasons I didn't give it 5 stars-- 1) I felt that chapter 5, the chapter on finding the right surgeon, seemed a little too in depth. 2) Of everything that was covered, I'm surprised that I found NEXT TO NOTHING on how to approach taking time off and the medical leave of absence process from work. For someone who has never had major surgery before, that is an important and sometimes complicated process. I feel it was not addressed, nor addressed adequately. I would love to see a chapter devoted to this subject in future editions. 3) Nothing is perfect :)Regardless, I appreciate the comprehensiveness of this excellent resource. You will too! As a registered nurse, the material is up to date, medically sound, and often eye-opening--I learned a few things! The authors don't sugarcoat anything. I recommended this book to the pre and post-op folks at my support group last night..almost think it should be mantatory reading for anyone considering any type of weight loss surgery! Not only will I be using my newfound information for myself, I will be sharing it with any weight loss surgery patients I may come across in my practice. Definitely a resource I'm keeping on the coffee-table.

Educational Yet Simple to Understand
Great book. While pondering undergoing sleeve gastrectomy, I decided to start reading every and any book I could find. This book was great. Educational, but simple and written in layman's terms. Gave me a lot of things to think about and understand what to expect before surgery, during my hospital stay and then what happens once I get home. Really great information. Recommend this to anyone planning weight loss surgery. Talks about how to tell friends and family you are doing this, or whether to tell them. It's gives the ups and downs of various types of weight loss surgeries and what you can expect for each one. Reactions to expect from people; how to deal with your own reactions to weight loss; clothes to buy. Literally everything is covered in this book. I bought the e-book version; the only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is because the special "dummy" icons were so small in the Kindle format that I couldn't tell the icons apart and the charts that were included were all in landscape format and when I tilt my Kindle, the chart tilted....so the only way to look at the chart was to hold my head sideways. Small potatoes.....but figured for an e-book they should do something a bit more user friendly. Otherwise......excellent source!

Highly recommended for anyone considering weight loss surgery!
Very happy with this book! I'm scheduled to have gastric sleeve surgery in December 2016 and this book was recommended to me at a support group my surgeon's group hold every month. I checked the book out of my local library but found the book to be so helpful that I purchased a copy to keep on hand and use as a reference tool. The authors do not attempt sway you one way or another and they make you aware of the potential complications that you may face. The book is well laid out: making the decision to have surgery, getting ready for the surgery, having the surgery and the immediate aftermath and making the mental changes/setting up a support system. There's even a section of recipes! This really is an essential book for anyone considering weight loss surgery as well as as their support system - it opens your eyes to potential issues that you may not have thought about and need to be aware of. I highly recommend this book!

Weight Loss Surgery For Dummies
I am going through the process for weight loss surgery right now and want to learn as much as I can before I go through it. It will take much commitment from me to make this successful. I found out that I am the only one that will make this work for me or not. I have also found out that a quarter of the people that go through this surgery regain all and sometimes more of the weight because they are not committed to following the program. You will need a very strong support group if you are like me and start something and sometimes don't finish it. I than God for my family and friends who want to see this work but I will still join the support group at the hospital as well. This is a wonderful book, it gives you all of the options and pitfalls of bariatric surgery. It taught me what to expect and what to do.This is NOT a diet, it is a change in life and thinking. I know all diets say that but this will change your life or scar you for life. Start everything before the surgery.

Great Read, Awesome info from beginning to end.
I love this book but it was not exactly what I was looking for. I am post VS and it wasn't till Chapter 12 that it deals with the aftermath. The stalls, the emotions, etc. I really wish I had known about this book when I was researching surgery. There are some delicious recipes for every stage of the post surgery which are so much better than just eating " cream of.....:whatever" soups and broths. I have modified some of the recipes and have not been disappointed. You may want to check it out of the library to see if you want one but they are reasonably price (used and new). I bought mine so I could highlight the items that interested me. Hope that you love this book as much as I do.

Very useful book
A great introduction to weight loss surgery in general. I would recommend to anybody considering WLS as it describes each procedure well and is great to help you decide which (if any) procedure is right for you.
