If You Hear Any Noise, It's Just Me And The Boys
During the 1970's, I, along with a number of my peers, were insane Parliament/Funkadelic Fans. At that time ,the only individual name out of the P-Funk brand that was known was Boosty Collins. No one in the general public knew who was “in charge” with the group, or anything. But, as time evolved into the 1980's and beyond, particularly with the release of “Atomic Dog” the World came to see that George Clinton had been one of the major players behind the scenes, so much so that he has become an icon. I have been a Parliament fan since the release of “Mothership Connection” back in the '70's. That music brings me more joy than just about any in my life. So, when I learned that George Clinton had a book, I knew I had to read it. This book blows me away! It seems every time George Clinton opens his mouth to say ANYTHING, he either says something classic or profound. Every single time. George Clinton is not just a musical genius. He is a man profoundly wise about life. The gift to us as his fans is that all of his great qualities and characteristics come out in his music. This book is one of the greatest books that I've ever read---and I've read a lot. George Clinton has been in the music business since the 1950's, so by purchasing this book, a person is getting 60 years' experience of musical genius. It's well-worth the price.

The Game-Changin', Rump-Shakin', Light Years Ahead Of Its Time Story Of The Holy P-FUNK!!
As HUGE FAN Of The Brilliantly Innovative & Revolutionary Musical LegacyOf George Clinton & His Groundbreaking Band, PARLIAMENT-FUNKADELIC,since the mid-70's to the early 80's, I have been waiting for this memoir forwell over 25 years now. And I have to say, I was not disappointed.I found George Clinton's storytelling to be candid, funny, and poignant all at the same time.P-Funk was more than just an alternative strain of funk, R&B, Rock, & Soul, but they brought awhole ethos and paradigm-shift within their game-changing albums, which created a sub-culture all its own.As someone who was a teenager when those brilliant albums andgame-changing theatrical concert tours were current & selling out arenas all over the U.S.,I found myself reminiscing and co-signing on much of what is contained within this book.I bought the Kindle Edition, and have read it twice now.Uncle Jam a.k.a. George Clinton shares his life experiences, and takes youthrough all that happened culturally and musically before P-Funk came on the scene, what happened behind the scenes of their brilliant whirlwind of creative genius and utter chaos, and he also tells of the tough times of his funk circus, upon its commercial decline in the early 80's.He didn't hold anything back....which is so typical of THE FUNK.Again. I enjoyed this book, and P-Funk's musical legacy has influencedmultiple artists and bands, from every genre of music; from rock, funk,hip-hop, to alternative & electronica. ~ May The Funk Be With You ~

Make my funk the Pfunk!
If you came up on Pfunk, then this book is for you. It seems like every book I read about musicians, there's always a story about stolen music rights, this no different. I hope George Clinton and the rest of Pfunk get all that is due to them before they pass on. Funkateers enjoy!

Great for fans and people who just like biographies! A must read!
I have only had the book for a few hours and I can't put it down. I am only half way through and it has been a total joy to read thus far and it is getting better by the paragraph. Great stories and the only thing I found to be "misleading" in it is that George claims Bernie went to Berklee when in fact it was Juilliard. Big deal right? Not really in consideration that wasn't Georges' life experience and he has done a lot of drugs. But fans of all things P Funk will love this book for it's deeper insight then what has been heard in many interviews through the years. I haven't come across much that I already knew and I consider myself pretty hip to a lot of stories and things P Funk. If you are a fan or just a fan of biographies this is for you. There is an unbelievable amount of pop culture history that is connected to George and his musical adventures that you just have to read this to believe it.

Funktastic.
For any P-Funk/George Clinton fan, this book is a very interesting and at times a pretty humorous read.It details how George first got involved in the music industry and all the characters he met and worked with along the way, both musicians and business people alike and how he is still fighting to get the money that is due to him and other members of Parliament/Funkadelic from some of the more unsavoury business folk that he encountered along the way.The book isn't just about GC though, it covers how both Parliament and Funkadelic developed their unique sounds and the thought process behind them, as well as other members of the P-Funk family from the likes of Bootsy, The Brides of Funkenstien ect...A must read for anyone interested in the funk or indeed hip hop for that matter, owing to the fact of how much P-Funk was and still is sampled and provided the back beat to so many hip hop classics. My only criticism is that I'm sure this book could have been ten times longer and still have remained just as interesting a read, as I'm sure George has many more stories to tell from such a long career.

The P Lives On
Honest, funny, insightful and sad. If you have any love for the P, you'll find George's story fascinating. One of the most heartwarming aspects of 2015 is seeing him and his family on tour, ripping the roof off venues across the world. After reading the book you'll understand why it's quite amazing that he's still with us. George, I hope you get all your copyrights back.

Fantastic Bio
For a fan from his 60's stuff, up to his solo albums in the 80's, this was a great accompaniment. Over three quarters of the book deals with this period, so super happy.

Funkin' Fantastic
I bought this to gain a little more information on how the original incarnation of The Parliaments came about in the 1950/60's, and how George Clinton first came to the attention of Berry Gordy at Motown. Having collected all The Parliaments recordings on Ed Wingates Golden World label, and LeBaron Taylors Revilot label I was also interested in how their association came about. The answers are all here. A great read detailing his progression from master of pure soul harmony to become the king of Funk. Or as George might say Funkin' Fantastic

learn the truth about crooked actions in music
A fantastic, eloquent book by the master of P Funk. He knows his history , he knows how his body of work was ripped from his control by crooked management. He is doing something to pull control back.Plus this book is an excellent story of the history of soul and funk from a man who was there at the start.

In Funk We Trust!!
This is stone cold FONK!! - A really great book full of funny stories and a real sense of the man and his very acute perceptions of both the music business and people. Great and long overdue book. Yes, my fellow funkateers -Do yourself a favour and read about Dr Funkenstein -The creator of cosmic crankrot mechanics!!!!!!

Mind-expanding
I decided to read this as a trilogy of sorts - after Herbie Hancock and Maurice White autobiographies. Clinton shares some similarities with Herbie and Maurice as far as trying to expand consciousness through music but tackles it from a different angle through Parliament and Funkadelic. If you like those bands then this is a must-read though it is let down by a last quarter which concentrates too much on Clinton’s grievances against past management and record executives who he feels ripped him off. After the joyous music and tales of Parliament and Funkadelic the bitterness seeps through and things get repetitive making things end on a sour note which is a shame.
