Imagine my surprise when I found my new Jeep Cherokee ...
Imagine my surprise when I found my new Jeep Cherokee with the 8.4 media center had no CD player! I read a lot of reviews before selecting this very reasonably priced Insignia. Why this? 1) it has an output to the audio plugin 2) the Jeep has a 110 plug which allows me to use the player without batteries. If you don't own a Jeep, this might not work as well for you. The player itself has been flawless and does not skip when going over uneven terrain. I have listened to CD music and MP3 recorded books. So far everything plays (including self-made MP3's. This might not be your experience as some buyers said the player did not hold up. I waited to write this until I had given it several weeks of play. This option for entertainment was necessary for me as I have a large collection of CDs and MP3's.

Absolutely incredible CD Player for 6 bucks!!
I gave this five stars because it deserves it, this little guy has extra base button and it works very very well, its easy to program and the thing programs 20 preset radio stations and has a lock button to lock all the function buttons so while out and about you wont accidently press something you dont wish to be pressing. I have a universal power plug I am using for it and am using the skullcandy headphones with its own built in subwoofer and this is better sounding than most home systems. Buy it before they run out this is a warehouse closeout.

Couldn't read some CD's and poor battery life
Didn't work as expected. Bought 2 identical CD players, 1 from Good Logics LLC and the other from Everything +. Not sure which of the 2 suppliers furnished which player. One defective (Couldn't read some CD's) and other player worked, but was disappointed with poor battery life (< 4 hours). Returned players to Amazon (The return process went smoothly). For the same price purchased 2 used Sony players which are superior in all ways: Better battery life, consistant & familier Sony user interface, expected better device lifetime.

Amazing Deal Since It's 3 In 1!
Let me just sat I really tested this and it doesn't skip a beat. You can jam like there's no tomorrow, turn it sideways, I even dropped it on the bed and it never had any interrupted play. 1) You get all the best features of a CD player, like pause, rewind/forward, and repeat. 2) Then you get all the best features of an MP3 player, randomize, skip, and search, the display even shows artist and title of your tracks. And 3) You get a radio tuner, that comes with preset options to save your favorite stations, like The Sound or K-ROQ.It's well worth the price because your getting a CD, MP3, and Radio in 1 great player. I would definitely recommend this to everyone who loves listening to music , and needs to replace their broken electronics. Love, love, love it! =]

You could certainly do better, but also certainly worse.
After giving this CD player a several month long trial run, and reading the wide range of positive and negative reviews, I'm finally posting this one, should one find it useful. This particular CD Walkman is fairly straightforward to use, with two audio jack outputs (One for a speaker set up, the other for headphones), the built in AM/FM Radio (It has a fairly good range) being used by a simple switch, and everything being fairly self explanatory. Despite this, I have several issues. While it certainly works and with a good set of earbuds or headphones works particularly well in terms of sound quality, it is worth noting that at times, it is somewhat buggy. While using this setup on trips, I almost always need at least four sets of AA batteries as it depletes them rather quickly. You will save yourself a lot of money buying rechargeable batteries or a wall outlet for this. Second, the radial play/pause, FF/RW, stop buttons do mess up and either will do the opposite or change the play settings. Lastly, as I've also learned, the audio quality does seem to degrade over time with the battery charge, with perfectly clear music upon a fresh set of batteries, but then towards the end of the battery life tends to become a jumbled mess of unnecessarily bass boosted tones (without the bass boost on). This is only helpful when listening to dubstep. With all this in mind, it at least gets at best, 3/5 stars. Constructive criticism also lacking these days, it is worth noting that if it didn't eat all my batteries in one sitting, it would definitely get another star.

Product Works as described but it's a shame it didn't come with an AC adaptor.
We've only had the Insignia Portable CD player for a few weeks but so far it is working as described. Just be sure that the CD is firmly snapped into place. We thought we had done that the first time we used it, but when we got no sound, we realized it had to be pushed a bit farther down onto the spindle. Skipping tracks is no problem and the fast forward works well. Sound quality is decent for what is a relatively small device, but you will probably want to use an upgraded set of headphones if you really want to appreciate the music. We knew that an AC adaptor was not included, but for what little extra it would have cost the manufacturer, it's unfortunate that they didn't take that extra step and provide one. Many of the adaptors online are sort of "all in ones" meaning they allow for a myriad of different current requirements when you really only need the one that is applicable to this particular product. We were lucky that the Phillips portable CD player that we were replacing had come with an adaptor that is compatible with the Insignia. Therefore, we didn't need to buy one. If you are also purchasing the Insignia to replace an older model, even if that older model is from a different manufacturer and that older model had an AC adaptor, you might want to check it. If its AC adaptor has a yellow color coded input tip, it will work with the Insignia.
