The energy-sapping, brain-frying heat and humidity in this tropical paradise is rivaled only by the cost of electricity (the highest in the nation) so that running an air conditioner for hours every day is cost prohibitive. This workhorse fan, though, blasts the hot air out of the house and runs for at least 12 hours a day. This is not a quiet fan by any means; its hum (likened to the cruising speed of a 747) can be heard outside in the garage and we do have to talk louder to be heard over it, even on its lowest setting. Nor is it a particularly pretty fan that one would really want to put in one's living room but we do so out of necessity. For its power and durability, I gladly give it five stars.

So far so good. I just picked up this fan to replace my 18" Honeywell fan that served my so well for the past seven years. I am a painter, by trade, and I frequently use high-power commercial fans to help dry out freshly-painted walls so they can be re-coated more quickly. I absolutely LOVED that Honeywell fan. If was definitely a commercial-grade fan that put out a lot of wind. I looked to replace it with an exact model, but for some strange reason the same-sized models from Honeywell that were available on amazon were all wired for European Union 220 outlets and were not compatible with outlets here in America. Ah well...I looked very seriously into purchasing an Air King fan, also. Those fans have a great reputation and are quality-made in the USA. I went back and forth between this fan and the similarly-sized Air King. My deciding factor was that my company was going to reimburse me $60 for the purchase. Since this fan was only a couple bucks over that price, I went ahead with purchasing it. (The Air King was about twice the price, though I do believe that you usually get what you pay for - at least when it comes to American-made products and services.) Hopefully I won't be sorry that I didn't go with the Air King.I had never heard of TPI Corporation, but after looking at their website, I was reassured that they have a history of making fans - especially industrial or commercial ones. This fan is roughly the same size (height and footprint) as my Honeywell fan. It is only slightly less heavy and slightly less powerful. I am satisfied with it after a few uses. Time will tell if it can fill the big shoes of its predecessor. If it fails to meet my high standards, I will definitely update my review to reflect any shortcomings.

I purchased this fan because TPI Corporation, the company that has their name on it, stated in the description that their products are made in the USA. I received the fan in a timely manner but the box and fan both had Made in China stamped on them. The fan works fine. It matters where it's made to me. To some people other things can matter. If you wanted 4 speeds on the fan and it came with only one, you'd feel misled. Well, they need to remove the claim that TPI makes their stuff in the USA.

not complaining about hawaii's weather, but the last three weeks have been humid without trade winds and that has resulted in very humid and sticky weather. I needed a fan that could take care of this heat. my two smaller 12" fans were not doing the trick. I ordered this fan on Wednesday and I received it on Friday, although the predicted date was set for next Monday. what delivery service. came in just in time. took it out of the box and plugged it in. even at its lowest setting, there's three settings, it definitely replaced both of my smaller fans. it is very strong and produces a very high velocity wind. love it. just love. for the price, it is definitely 5-stars and worth every penny.

I needed a fan for working out - treadmill, elliptical - a powerful amount of air moving. Bought a 24", too big! Returned it. This is just a bit larger than a standard floor fan, smaller than those ugly box fans at Walmart. It's good looking, and WORKS. It's not too noisy for working out when on high setting, where it really blasts air. The low setting is low enough I could use it in my bedroom at night, but I already have a fan there that's tamer. It's a great fan for someone needing real fan.

The motor seized up on October 15th after almost 90 days of nightly use in an air conditioned home.

Nice big fan gets the air moving. I use it in my classroom and it is quite loud.

This fan is awesome. A wee bit loud but it does cool.I got the 20" because it was cheaper than the other fans. ^-^Well... The big one is a bit on the louder side but boy does it help cool.It came fully assembled and ready to plug in.I also like how the power cord can be wrapped at the back.Thank you for this great fan. I may get another one later to help "stereo-cool" a room. ^-^
